At least Siena can't hoist a NCAA banner. That streak is still intact. As is our Drive for Five as there was no Tourney Champion awarded this season. Sorry but being regular season champ means diddly. Screw you Ensor.

Had to post here ( have posted before ) to respond to the one or two posters who blamed the refs. Often read this Board and most of the posters are rational and even classy. Given that it's fine to be fans and root for your Team but some posters are over the top.
So regarding the refs...they are very bad at this level. We all know that. Sometimes the bad calls even out, sometimes they do not. But consider a few calls from the SPU point of view.
1) KC picks up his 3rd foul ( both should have been no calls ) @ the 13 minute mark of the 2nd half and goes to the bench. Iona then goes on a run to open their big lead. KC returns many minutes later and it's a different game. I could elaborate on the calls but it would take too long.
2) The foul call which, at the time, was the most crucial of the game was the block/charge on Quinn Taylor vs Crawford. Taylor is the best in the league and has been for the past few years in taking the charge. To me it was an obvious charge call and both announcers stated that.. However, one commentator smartly pointed out that the ref was not going to call a charge on an Iona ALL MAAC player and that's exactly what happened. At the time I thought the call cost SP the game and if that happened, indeed a few of our posters would have blamed the loss on that one play. Luckily it became irrelevant in the end. So much for calls favoring SP.
Finally, I always considered Iona a jinx Team for us. Twice in the last few years SP lost games to Iona it could have have won. First was when we blew a 14 pt. 2nd half lead to lose by 2 points. Then there was 2 years ago when Devaunte Turner,an 80% foul shooter missed the front end of a 1/1 to win the semi-final game. That play was shown last night during the game telecast....heartbreaking.
But no moaning here. Iona has been a great team over the last several years and they deserve all the accolades received. Last night was our turn and so I appreciate those posters who thought that Iona could have/should have won. No doubt the T hurt big time and that's fair game. But to those who blame officiating.......

In my opinion Iona was hurt by Ross dribbling the ball off his foot out of bounds, Jelly getting fancy with the behind the back dribble leading to a turnover, EJ shuffling his feet for a traveling call near the three point line, and Arnold’s inexcusable technical. No way in hell Cluess would blow a 50-42 lead. Coaching matters.
