Might as well start this thread so we don't post this stuff in the Cluess thread
This article also mentions Holloway

I get a sense that this is not a surprise to the powers that be and the replacement may already be picked-which is a GOOD thing. If the school was scrambling to get a new coach now, I would recommend Mike Lonergan formerly of Vermont and GW. guaranteed winner, wins wherever he goes.

I don't see the boosters flying to Greece without the assurance it's Pitino's job if he wants it

Forget Holloway,itSHOULD be Jared,hw will do really well here.As for Pitino, boosters met him in Barcelona when his team was playing there about 2 weeks ago, this comes from a very good sourceoutside of Iona, again it HAS to be Grasso to continue whatTC worked so hard to build, and he will do it the RIGHT WAY!!!!!!!!

Whoever the new coach is will have to select his own staff.

However the new coach is will have to select his own staff. Good point. Erickson is part of Grasso's staff. IF Grasso gets the job have to imagine he comes with him. I got the sense that some here were not to crazy about him? Would love to keep Mailhot. Might as well post this here. Arnold took lots of heat from most on this board. Let's not forget that most likely at the end of this he will be unemployed, as well as the other coaches. Tough spot as he relocated from Texas. Have to remember the human side of this situation.

That’s a great point, families involved here and the human side is often overlooked.

I think Jared is the logical choice. He served his apprenticeship under TC knows the MAAC and is a great recruiter with strong ties to the metropolitan area. I’m sure he would be TC’s choice for the job. Pitino just doesn’t make sense to me. He comes with tons of baggage and everything will be about him with Iona as an afterthought. Do we want to be dragged down that dark hole?

Best wishes to Tim Cluess. A really class act who had/has his priorities straight. Iona College owes a debt of gratitude to him. A real shame to see him move to this next chapter of his life this way. My hope is that the College is thoughtful about the decision on the next coach and not swayed by the wishes of a few for the shiny object. Do a thorough search and fully vet the candidates. The position and the program deserves it. I am optimistic the right person will be found and they will value the position and not look at it as a stepping stone.

Not that it matters but if we don’t hire Jared I wouldn’t be supportive of the program anymore.
