Pitino can potentially get us ranked in Top 25 again like Valvano & some W’s in Ncaa I don’t know if Grasso can do that he hasn’t proven anything yet If you think Pitino would be able to get the same kids to Iona as he did at Louisville, think again.

I'm fine with either. Both home runs and best choices to replace Tim.

I'll support the program no matter who is chosen as Tim's successor. I believe we have a strong athletic administration which will continue to provide solid oversight.

The hope is he recruits kids that would be 4 year players and doesn't have the pressure of sending kids off to the NBA....

Not the same kids as Louisville but certainly a notch or two above the MAAC. I think Pitino would be great and allow our program to stay relevant. Our older posters like oldtimer and 59 aren’t interested in a 4-6 year turnaround.

Shaheen Holloway's name has been floated but a charter MAAC school poaching a coach from another charter seems unlikely, kind of a bad look. Pitino is also a bad look, considering the whole bad person part. I would love to see Grasso back but there may be better options. This board mostly loves Grasso, and should, but his strength is recruiting. So maybe look at others; many coaches will be interested. St. Thomas Aquinas coach Tobin Anderson would be someone to look at, unless there's an issue I'm unaware of. Also, there are assistants at major programs who just need a chance. The search should be broad but a decision should be made soon because Iona doesn't need to wait for a team's season to end. I kind of want Anderson.

So a war emerging amongst Iona fans, Pitino or grasso. I’ll take either, though Pitino has upside that Iona rarely has a Chance at.

No idea if the last 3 have been contacted.

I too think Cluess stepping down was a selfless act! He knew if he left the program on hold he could be hurting the program. What a class act!

The list is Pitino then.............Grasso And that's it But it could be done already I like a redemption story. Grasso is still learning the ropes as a head coach. If Pitino did join Iona he probably won’t stay for more than 2 or 3 years. Grasso may really be an accomplished in game coach at that point. For Iona or another step up. So long as Pitino is committed to doing things the right was, I’d welcome him with open arms.
