I believe in 2nd chances. We all love positive turn arounds when it involves one of our players... why not a coach? The whole Catholic values argument is also a load of crap when church officials have ignored and hidden the sexual abuse of children for decades. If the school picks Pitino, I will support him 100%. If they pick Jared, I will also provide 100% support to his selection. But since we are all sinners, I am not going to sit in judgment of either as I am not walking in their shoes.
Did anyone think that coaching at Louisville was what drove Pitino to bend the rules? That level of competition and the stress one must feel, especially when the school's cross-state rival is bending the rules and winning.... it must be insane. I understand some of you are worried about his baggage... but sometimes I think you need to take a risk to achieve greatness. I would love for him to look at the current staff, especially Jeff Mailhot, to help ease the transition. Maybe tap into a good Div 2 head coach (like Tobin Anderson) to be his lead assistant. I would expect him to run a clean program and not delegate activities so he could have plausible deniability.
If they pick Jared, great! But I would also want him to hire a proven X's & O's assistant. If Grasso is the head coach, he will not be the main recruiter so we would see what his plan is for that position. Maybe he brings in Mike Glover as an assistant to help with recruiting NYC players. I had always hoped that Jared would one day return to us as our HC.
Either way... the program has my support no matter who they hire.

This coaching talk between Pitino and Grasso reminds me of the recruits we think we're going to get and then out of the blue we get a recruit that wasn't even on the discussion radar.
We'll probably wake up tomorrow and find out we hired Tim Welsh

We need to get back to the round of 32. It’s been 40 years waiting. I remember listening to Rutland and Burtt years on radio. We deserve the national spotlight again!! We would sell out every night! Grasso can finish his contract and arrive in 3 years

Total longshots but I would be pleased if we went with Glover or Armand.

I'm just thrilled we have twonl excellent options. I'm good with either, though it's sounding more like Pitino.

Ok, so with Pitino just realize we are going to get some negative backlash over this. Also, he's not likely to reward our risking the negative backlash with a long term commitment to the program. And the NCAA still hasn't ruled on his Louisville situation. So, keep that in mind.

I would absolutely love having Pitino coach our young men. If they do hire him please include a very large buyout clause because it will be needed. I would be thrilled to have him for 3 years and put us back on the national map.

I'll be an Iona fan forever, regardless, but this Pitino scenario is deeply disturbing. He would definitely boost Iona's visibility and have success. Still seems like a deal with the devil; he's a bad guy.

Sharkey, I’ll let you take over, you are the king of twitter updates anyway, I’m getting drained from this, but right now there is nothing else to do! A comment like this makes you realize Iona almost has to take this chance, best part of it is I believe if it ends quickly Cluess may be there to takeover and he will likely have some great players to coach.
