The only question here is how long Pitino will stay for. How do we get him to a salary where he stays for at least 5 years. Can he keep his own sneaker contract etc?

Seriously doubt he's worried about the money. He likes coaching, developing players. His salary will be considerably less than it was but it's still good money. After five seasons (reported contract) he will be 72 and comfortably retire. He doesn't want anything but to coach.

Face it Pitino’s here because he loves to coach at the college level and Iona was his only good option to return to the college game. He’s 67 years old and like a lot of hall of fame coaches he needs to win. He’ll be here long enough to show that he can take a mid major to near major status. It may take him 3 years to get there but I’m sure he’ll give it his all. I just pray that he does it on the up and up.

Rollie Massimino is an example of a coach coming from a big time program to a mid - major ( Cleveland State). Pitino will certainly enjoy the alumni and fan base here.

Not sure, but what I'm expecting is that RP will bring in fans that are not Iona fans, but fans of basketball in general. At least, at first they'll come to see what the RP fuss is all about. And they'll come back if they like what they see, which I expect to be the case. Virus aside, the attendance this season should average close to 2500. Wishful thinking? I don't think so.

Reading Pitno's book "My Story". Back when there was no 20 hour a week limit, a typical day went like this.... 1 hour of practice before breakfast, an hour of individual instruction for players during breaks in the academic day, followed by a 3 hour team practice in the afternoon. then it was dinner, study hall, and the day ended with 100 free throws. Also found interesting in the Forward by Jeff Van Gundy, his dream for Pitno was that some brave athletic director who read this book, would give him another opportunity. We have answered that, and the rewards should be unbelievable for Iona and Pitno!

Have to be honest I was a little surprised that Pitino kept Ricky Johns from the old staff, but damn, he is getting lots of love on twitter from many local HS and AAU programs, "one of the hardest working assistants in the Northeast", the "assistant coach we saw the most at events". Pretty impressive

HBO will air “The Scheme” on Tuesday, March 31 (9-11 pm ET). There will be references to Pitino and the college basketball scandal that caught college coaches accepting bribes for elite players.

A. Pitino will make us a major force . B. Put us on the map again & we’ll get majors to come play us @ Hynes now. Everyone be ecstatic. C. Humongous things to come. We will battle on the recruiting trail for sure Rick has the tools to get them to play for him. Expect Huge things in New Rochelle, New York!!! No not the coronavirus lol I have a room reserved in the newly expanded and reinforced Ledge for this poster - heavily padded. Just not sure he will show up voluntarily. Judging from the trend in the "Realist Goal" thread; it looks like the pilings are going to have to go deeper, add more square footage, and a whole wing of padded rooms.
