Pretty big waste of $$$$$ Wasn't Iona's money, Arrigoni paid for this. That makes sense of the earlier tweet

Honestly, I don't see any waste in the billboard, and kind of like it. If it brings in any new/added interest to the program that's great. If I recall there were lots of complaints last year how there wasn't enough marketing of the program, especially expecting a big season and the addition of IW and his tremendous following.
Have to give Iona credit, they have been much better using social media marketing the program this summer. The more advertising the better in my opinion.

Agree with Sharkey. There are plenty of common folk who will drive by that sign and were not aware that Rick Pitino--a household name if your household has even a casual interest in college basketball--is now coaching at little 'ol Iona. Related: I do a daily search of "Pitino" on Twitter, and after weeding through the ones attacking his past, there are always 1 or 2 that were like "wait a second Rick Pitino is coaching at Iona???" The common folk have no clue this legend is in New Rochelle.

There is no one who would go to a low division 1 game that didn't know pitino was the coach by now if this was done for cluess and saying reigning champs it might have helped

I saw it driving this morning, I thought it looked good, it stood out and was very noticeable, right before the Hutch entrance heading southbound on 95 in the Bronx. If it's Arrogoni's money he can do what he wants with it and this billboard definitely gets noticed. I think whomever is just a regular sports fan and sees it will get the impression that Iona is now a big time college basketball program in the NY area.

To not take full advantage of the “Pitino Effect” every opportunity we have, would be a huge mistake. The billboard is a fantastic move. Kudos to whomever came up with the idea and thanks again to Mr. Arrigoni for sponsoring...

Makes no difference, wasn't Iona's money.
