Lets not lose site how difficult this must be for our current players to process all this.
Whatever happens to each individually, wishing all of them the best possible outcome.

Good point Cjb. Fortunately and unless I’m mistaken, we have only 6 scholarship players returning. Five of them are entering their Senior year and thus only have one season of questionable playing time, assuming they all stay. I do think 2-3 of our vets would get playing time in the 2020/21 season. The impact would have been far greater if we had Freshmen and Soph’s on the roster. Not considering any players who have already verbally committed but they still have the option to reconsider where they wish to spend their remaining college eligibility.

Hope RP realizes that IW was one key reason for our late season surge. His confidence and decision making was much improve as the season went on. I look forward to a great campaign this coming fall.

Good chance if IW is the starting PG he will lead the country in assists. Leading guts on the break who will finish easily around the basket against MAAC bigs, or dishing back to trailers for open 3s like he already loves to do. Rick said he needed to mature and I believe he did so I expect Pitino to make IW a future NBA pick next year. JELLY I hope you stay!!!

Hate to say it but if Pitino brings in the type of players I expect, the future at Iona isn’t bright for most returning players:
Washington- he has the best opportunity to stick but if Pitino has the ability to find an even better pg he will bring him in. I say 50/50 Washington is our starting point guard next year, and this is coming from someone who really likes Washington as a player
Van Eyk- his ability to be a factor on presses gives him a chance to get minutes, but it is likely off the bench.
Ross- a good enough 3 point shooter to be a factor off the bench, but he can probably graduate transfer so he may not return.
Ristanovic- don’t think it’s likely he returned even before Pitino. Has one thing going for him: size
Cashaw- he’s not going to play, but heady senior practice players are sometimes a good thing to have.
Gist-he can easily be a graduate transfer, so once some high rated guards come in he will probably go elsewhere where he has more guaranteed minutes.
Brown and Brown-the big guy that was here I feel for, just seems unlikely he will stay unless Mailhot returns. The other Brown was questionable to come as it was and now I would say more questionable.
Out of the above 8 I say 5 are on the roster next year and Pitino brings in 8 new players including 1 that may need to sit out a year.

Agree with your assessment of both and think DVE can be a nice energy guy off the bench. It'll be really exciting to see what talent RP can bring in particularly this offseason due to the coronavirus. Most of the additions will come solely based on his reputation. Would love to see some real depth added, last season we had three scorers who were clearly gassed against SPU's depth.

Let's remember something, just because we have Rick Pitino, we're still Iona in the MAAC.
Unintentionally, Iona hit a Grand Slam from a publicity standpoint yesterday garnering national attention.
Iona was arguably THE sports headline of the day. It's probably safe to now say Iona's name has been exposed to a wider pool of talent than it has in decades.
The MAAC overall should benefit by infusing sorely needed energy lacking for over a decade.
I'm not expecting 5 star, blue-chippers to suddenly want to play in NewRo, but I do hope for a couple of 3-4 star rated kids to want to come.
Perhaps Iona could then get that NCAA W that's eluded them with some resulting collateral "damage" being the MAAC becoming a 2 bid conference.
Dare to dream.

We can't really judge the roster because the player were recruited to play under TC system. We didn't get a good look. Risto is the perfect example. TC got a lot more out of him in the prior year.

Maac might see an upgrade in talent across the board.

Risto is definitely a 3pt shooter type, imo. Not a pressing defensive guy.

Reality is we more than likely would have lost some of these guys even had Cluess come back.
