I know that STAC's Tobin Anderson is looking for a Div 1 HC job... but maybe he would consider being Pitino's assistant head coach if we paid him enough? They have a very similar coaching style and we would have an assistant that has MAAC experience, has recruited very well in the NYC area and would get huge exposure being a member of the Pitino coaching tree. Even if it was for 2 years... something to consider if Tobin would.

Would love to have him in the mix for the future.

I’m sure Coach P can handle it but it’s fun to speculate and try to forget about being contained to the house all day. No idea if any of the current staff would be asked back, but my guess is this staff needs some diversity and someone with strong recruiting ties outside of the East Coast (I think he’s got that covered). Someone that can recruit Chicago, Atlanta and Indiana would be perfect. Not sure if Pitino has ever recruited the West Coast with any urgency - I could be wrong. I’m still a newbie to Iona BB with much to learn.

I was impressed by Coach Mailhot this year, I hope the decision makers were also. New @ionagaelsmbb coach Rick Pitino is keeping Ricky Johns on staff along with newcomers Tommy Abatemarco and Casey Stanley, per sources.

Yep. That makes sense. Pretty much what I thought he would do.

Pretty much rules out any chance of us getting Griffin back.

Assuming that the three coaches named actually end up on the Staff, I'm guessing that by having two 'young' coaches and one semi-retired coach, RP was "freeing up" $$ for his lead assistant. Also, guessing a five person staff: three AC's; DBO; and a VC. If that is correct, we are still waiting on two names.
