Former Gael Jonathan Duck has passed. I don't have details. Graduated 1990 so. Still is the last Gael to grab 20 boards in a game. RIP to a great rebounder!

I remember when we signed him which I believe was under Gary Brokaw. I heard it on the radio because I believe he was highly recruited and might have been Mr. new York basketball not sure. He was a victim of prop 48 his first season and had to sit out. Jonathan was a big man and a good Gael. RIP!

Can't believe the news. He was one of the toughest players to put on the Gael uniform. Believe he want to LI Lutheran. He was teammates with a highly sought after combo guard whose name I can't recall. RIP, Jon.
IC59, can you fill in the gaps?

Was one of my favorite, built like a hydrant but could rebound with the best I remember the game to start my life as an Ionian, watching in Alaska vs Kentucky. By the way look up that years schedule 88-89, even with Pitino we won't play a schedule that hard this year

EP he did go to LI Lutheran which was a basketball powerhouse. I know the guard you're talking about and now you got me going crazy trying to remember who it is

Think I saw this on twitter, but didn't Duck play at the same school as Tony Hargraves, Our Savior Lutheran. Could swear I saw him play in their tiny little gym. They played in the same league as Salesian HS at one point.

JD as far as I can remember went to Tony Hargraves' HS, Our Savior Lutheran. He and (Forget his first name) Bernard tore up NYC and we were hoping to recruit both, but it didn't happen. Bernard (5'8) ended up at SW Mo State or some school like that. JD could really fill up an elevator, and was a VG player for the Gaels. About the same size as Mike Glover, but not as athletic. May he RIP.

I Googled OSL and found Arnold Bernard, who they listed at 5'5. I knew he was on the short side, but didn't think he was only 5'5. When he and JD led OSL to the state title, thy knocked off Molloy in the process.

Very sorry to hear this.
Remember him as a mountain of a man that cleaned the glass with teammate Gerald McClease (sp?) from CT.
Pretty sure he was offered by UCLA before the Prop 48 thing.
May he RIP.
