I've thought about doing a weekly podcast, with comedic relief mixed into MAAC discussion. Would call it MAAC After Dark. HJ and Tony would be suitable guests.

I have no idea where to put this comment other than creating a new thread, which I don't want to do. So it arbitrarily goes here: There are many new contributors to this message board since Coach Pitino's hiring. This is a good thing. I look forward to reading your musings and insights. There's always room for one more!

In all seriousness, I hope Guy launches a new podcast on Ioan Hoops - I would definitely be a subscriber.
Now that RP has made his initial media rounds, I hope he gets some better questions moving forward. (Time to talk about the future).
What 3 interview questions would you ask Coach Pitino?
Here are mine:
1. We all know that recruiting is a numbers game as you only have so many scholarships to give. Does it get uncomfortable to offer more kids than scholarships available? How do you work through that, especially now with the Transfer Portal in play?
2. In terms of non-conference scheduling, do you see Iona playing in any early season tournaments to get some national TV exposure? As a follow up, any thoughts of starting your own tournament in NYC (maybe continue the Billy Minardi Classic from your Louisville days)?
3. You have said that your time in Europe has made you a better offensive basketball coach. As you think about the evolution of college basketball from set plays in the 1940s and 50s, patterned offense such as the flex and wheel in the 1970s, Bob Knight's motion offense of the 1980s, Phil Jackson's triangle offense with Jordan and Pippen in the 1990s, and Cal's Dribble Drive Offense, how did you land on Euro offensive principles and how difficult is it for kids today to adapt to that style of play?
Can someone please send these questions to Dan Patrick - LOL.

Would love to see Pitino vs. Calipari matchup at some point in the next few seasons. 2. Iona player UK a few times previously, including in the finals of the 1980 Great Alaska Shootout and at MSG in the finals of the ECAC holiday classic when Pitino was the coach. Not sure if you remember any of those matchups?

Cal pretty much walks on water here in the Lexington area. I know he gets a lot of crap on the national level - one-and-done stuff, issues at UMass, epic failure with the Nets, etc. - but as someone that covers UK on a regular basis, he's the perfect guy for "the best job in college basketball." He has charisma that's off the charts and he's so good with people. You might be surprised to know that he really is one of the good guys in all of college basketball. He's incredible with the media and is always a great quote. It seems Cal always got the best of RP in the UK/UL rivalry. But in pure X's and O's, I think RP is the better basketball coach. My only issue with Cal is the Dribble Drive Motion Offense (DDM) which is hard to watch at times unless you like watching a free throw contest. The only goal is to drive to the hoop and score OR get to the line - looks brutal early in the season. RP's Iona offense will be a thing of beauty compared to the DDM. Unfortunately, I don't remember any past UK/Iona games...I'm 52 years old, but just can't remember that far back. Would love to see those games on video.
