I believe top 40 since I do believe after looking at RP first class he will be here for at least 5 yrs. It is something we can maintain if RP also leaves us or gets us a quality HC to be his succesor. Iona can become the job older coaches want to end their careers at to enjoy why they got into coaching in the first place.

Will be interesting to see how the balance of the low major Maac teams respond. Their alumns will be very distressed by the year in year out Iona dominance. We had stronger competition back in the glory days.

Like in business, you shoot for the moon and if you fall short, you are still way ahead of 95% of the competition

The rest of the WCC didn't fold, it got better. Couple large institutions in the WCC who could rise to the occasion. The Maac has been sort of a Fredo league. A nice run here and there. Same outcome. 14 or 15 seed. Maybe Manhattan & Siena make some baby steps. Not sure what the other schools have to offer.

Wow those were the days. Fran has done a good job at Iowa. We will certainly get back at it.

Part of the problem with the MAAC is the fact that most of the members have very different aspirations from each other and profoundly different financial capabilities. You have Quinnipiac with a $526.6 million endowment on one end of the spectrum and St. Peter's with a $34.4 million endowment. You have Quinnipiac that has stated it has aspirations of getting to the Big East, Fairfield and Marist who have alumni wanting to go to the Patriot, and you have MAAC schools that do not make a commitment to sports other than just enough so they can say they are Div 1 programs. Most of the MAAC schools are struggling to survive in an area with a declining birth rate. IMHO, now would be the time to push some of the schools to make a commitment to their hoops programs and if schools are unable or unwilling, then time for a MAAC makeover. Maybe target some past members of potential new members?.

I think there have to be some passionate alumni at the other schools. What schools have jokes for facilities? SP should pursue the same upgrades we have, Rider zoo laughable, Canisius/ Niagara pathetic. I don't see programs elevating without upgrading facilities.

I think we really should stop worrying about all of this and maybe just start by winning some games again. This talk of becoming an elite mid-major, moving conferences, becoming VCU, etc, is a bit premature. How about we just win the MAAC next year and go from there.

Rick Pitino is the Bill Bilicheck of college basketball. The only way we don't succeed here is he doesn't make it to campus.

Agree with GuyF. Foolish to mention us in the same sentence as Gonzaga. We are about five gazillion steps away from being able to have that conversation.
