Interested in getting general thoughts on how to keep players happy with minutes. Doesn't have to be Iona specific.
As I look at the roster for the most part the incoming player appear to have enough talent to get significant minutes at other programs. What keep a player at Iona or any other program for that matter? The chance to crack the lineup of a great team?

Thinking it might be a question of balancing the "weight". At least at the center and power forward positions. As such, I don;t think that playing Shema and VanEyck at the same time makes sense. As the old Ad used to say, "Where's the beef"? In certain situations, like when we're pressing, I guess it could happen. But in our base lineup, if Shema starts, a distinct possibility, I'm guessing that we'd play one of our huskier PF's (the Sweedish guy or the African guy) with the New Mexico State transfer the wild card.
Of course, I'm posting an opinion based on info second hand at best.

Van Eyck can also possibly spread the floor. I think with his energy and a kid that can block shots as well as deflects lots of balls on defense he's perfect for the Pitino system

Its a new era of sorts. Not sure we've ever had this many big bodies. They all seem very talented. It doesn't appear we are shy at adding more.

Last season: Agee Van Eyck Nikolic Thiam Ristanovic
That's only one less kid than this current team. Hopefully, this group produces at a higher level.

I saw him as one of our more physical and effective defenders last year. As for Shema, I see from the very limited videos that he is mobile and has quick hands on D. He may need some help if opponents run their offense through the post. However, how many MAAC teams has a "Big Baby" in the post?

SLG, the difference between Shema and Big Baby is about 70 pounds. But you might be correct about Dylan. While I do view him as a VG player, no way would I describe him as a big body guy. I'm guessing that our Guy weighs more than he does.
