I have two questions which I neglected to include in my post (above). One has to do with travel and the other with boarding on or near campus. Travel-Does anyone know when was the first time Iona travelled by plane for a game? We were in the National Catholic Invitational in 1949/50 and 51. I believe the NCIT took place in Colorado, but far from certain, so I assume we must have used air travel for those games, IF they took place in Colorado.
Boarding-When did players start living on campus? When I was at Iona, we had off campus housing (The Boarders Club) where students made arrangements through the college and boarded in houses near the college. I don't know if athletes were included. One BB player, Stan Hill, had a car and drove to Iona. He picked up a good friend of mine, Rich Lovisolo, who lived on or near W48St in Manhattan and drove him to Iona as well.
Anyone know?
