Pat Wallace was a great guest, but I have to give major props to Guy for asking great questions. Going back to the first podcast I have to say to Guy, "You've come a long way baby".

Came away, after a very enjoyable, 40 minutes, with a few takeaways:
*Really liked the player by player breakdown. When/if we get to meet the team/coaches I'll re-listen in order to research the team, so I won't be stone cold when first seeing them. *Doesn't seem that we have a threesome to match WC, DJ and NJJ. This team MIGHT have a different high scorer in many games. Why it will take some getting used to, it very well might make the season more enjoyable. *TA, when speaking of the coaches, stressed that for the most part he has a long term relationship with all of them. And I remember when TC was here, JG sat right next to him on the bench. For the last couple of years that wasn't the case. So, I'm wondering if TA is a fan of having a particular AC sit next to him, or whether it's a rotational thing with the assistant who was responsible for scouting/game planning occupy the 'first chair'. *Seems that we have many guys who can shoot, rebound and play defense. Still not sure about ball handling.
Again thanks.

I don't think ballhandling will be a problem, I did say in podcast and out here yesterday that we have a lot of guys who showed ability to handle the ball. Biggest concerns I have will be team rebounding and how quickly the guys can learn the defensive system.

Interesting that the players mostly refer to him as Tobin. Not Coach Anderson or even Coach Tobin.

Interesting that the players mostly refer to him as Tobin. Not Coach Anderson or even Coach Tobin. 83, I thought the same thing. I was going to post about it, but doubted my hearing. By that I mean that I wasn't sure if it was just the 'old guys' who referred to TA as Tobin, or the young guys as well. It brought me back to my freshman year at Iona Prep. My history teacher was Joe Lamas, who was our assistant football coach. Later on he became the head football coach. He had played professionally for either the Washington Redskins or the Pittsburg Steelers, forget which one, and he looked the part. In introducing himself to the class he said, "My name is Joe Lamas, and all my friends call me Joe. You will call me Mr. Lamas". Different times, but somehow I like it. Makes it seem that we're all in this together.

Very interesting episode. Care to elaborate? LOL Referring primarily to Oz’ comments about Tobin establishing a “family” atmosphere that was not previously present. Also struck by the maturity of the players interviewed and their obvious buy in on creating a cohesive squad. Idan’s comments about the difficulty of playing at Hynes as a visitor were interesting. Finally struck by the staff and players understanding Iona’s program history and their expressed determination to live up to it.
