endwee, my guess everyone who were frosh last year (Myers, NJJ, Rowe, Koroma) will be frosh next year, also. Probably with a R/S designation. Same with the sophs, juniors and seniors.
So the roster is ok with the new rules? And we can add as many 4th or 5th year guys as we want? We also have 9 guys with 4 more years? Hope this coach is qualified to build with this team😃😝

Any seniors transferring to Iona, like Joiner, count against the 13 limit. Iona's 4 seniors, if any return, don't count against the limit

So if we don’t count Cashaw and Van Eyck, we presently have 13 scholarship players. More roster moves maybe?

yes. Currently at 13, I have a feeling we might see one more recruit. Reports on Twitter Iona " contacted" a couple recruits yesterday and of course there are still a couple kids out there Iona has already offered.
Also we can be pleasantly surprised by a recruit nobody heard of like Joiner
My takeaways from watching the NCAA tournament and how it impacted our roster, IMO, for next year:
1. I couldn't believe how strong the top players are and how athletic. 2. The refs call a different game in the Tournament. If, last night's final was a MAAC game, both teams would have fouled out in the first half. And I think that even during the regular season, play by the top teams is more physical, with fewer fouls called, considering how physical the games are played. 1970, who thinks we complain too much about officiating (and he's probably correct) might have an opinion about the way games are called, top teams vs. mid-major teams. Or, regular season vs. post season. 3. Having 13 players who can play, should give us protection against the typical MAAC refs who, imo, call many ticky-tack fouls. 4. Still feel we need one more addition to the roster and that is at the PF position. Now, IF DVE comes back, I see him as that guy, but if he decides to leave, I think we'll need a replacement. JMO.
Would be great if Van Eyck returns. Having said that I wouldn't be too concerned over having a need at any one position, and probably should get away from placing kids un one traditional position.
This roster has lots of length, athletic and versatile. The only player I see "locked" into one position is James at the "5". Every other kid can play 1-3 positions in Pitino's system. I am convinced we will at times Shema on the court with James/NJJ. Let's also give Koroma a chance to get stronger. I think he's going to be very good. I think there will be one more new recruit based on reports on Twitter on who Iona is showing interest in and it will likely be a kid that can score and defend and Pitino doesn't care what position he plays

I joked about the foul calling with my son last night. In a Maac game Baylor would have had no players left, LOL!

Yes we complain here to much about officiating. Everyone keeps saying MAAC refs suck. Baylor which totally outplayed Gonzaga had 2 ft and 47 pts? The team losing had 13? Did they cry about it? No Did their coach complain at half time about foul trouble being a problem? No, he said we will keep playing hard. So instead of bitching like losers they went out and won the damn game and got to the free throw line much more in the 2nd half. That is what winners do. No fn excuses go play hard and win the damn game.
