Someone like a Kemba Walker with UConn or Ja Morant with Murray State, so I’ve always had the desire to be the one to turn the system around. I know it’s a lot to take on, but I think I’m ready for that responsibility.”

Welcome, Joshua. Just watched the VC video, and he looks great. VC has him slotted as a SG, but he looks like a combo guard or even a PG. They have him rated as a two star, but on his HL video, to me, he looks like a four star player, who plays both ends of the court. Congrats to Rick and his staff.

His profile is on the 2021 recruiting thread with videos. Not a great deal of info on him. He has played for Australia’s junior national teams for the past three years. Reclassified from 2022 to 2021. Was planning on playing at a US high school or prep but Coach Pitino swayed him into coming to New Rochelle directly. IMHO, if he had done a year of prep in the US, his offer list would be filled with HM offers. As smooth as he appears on the offensive side of the ball, he is a junkyard dog-type of a defender. He is very athletic, sees the court very well, and has a quick first step. While it is tough to gauge the level of competition in these videos, he has unbelievable potential for the staff to develop.
The 2021 - 2022 team meetings will look like a General Assembly meeting at the UN... Germany, Sweden, Nigeria, Rwanda and Australia all represented.

I’m thinking of another Gael named Patty Mills (now in the NBA).

Remember, Joshua is not from NY, but from Australia, so UCONN might not get as much pub Down Under. And while it's JMO, but I think that RP sees Joshua as a three or four star player. Keep in mind we didn't NEED to finish the '21 Class this early.

Well, UConn, while having great success in basketball, is still a small school in comparison to the big boys in the NCAA. Also still rather large in comparison to Iona, which is what he might not yet understand!

The Pitino staff doesnt care about the player rankings. They are arbitrary.

-- A brilliant insight from 59. I'm also excited by this player.

When it comes to rankings and offers you really have to not put too much weight into them, especially the '21 class, since these kids lost their entire AAU seasons where they get evaluated and earn their offers. Guy is spot on as far as the staff not caring about that stuff. Ic59 was also correct. Pitino views Duach much higher than his rankings, but rather as a perfect fit for his system.
As far as Duach, I really like his potential. He's only 17 years old and the rare kid that reclasses up a year, where most reclass back a year to get another year of development and possibly more offers. The fact that Maryland offered him is very telling on his potential. This kid is 6'6" and athletic with a very good handle as well as a kid that appears to play very hard and tenacious on the defensive end. Really like his attitude that he likes the challenge of going to a small college and help build it into something special. Duach needs to continue to develop but he has the potential to be as good as any Pitino recruit.
