If Ross doesn’t drop 30 - can we win?

Pitino called this, but I don't think he thought it would be this bad. Feels like we're going to go 10-10 in MAAC play, assuming we get all 20 games in.

Pitino says Robert Brown lost for season with knee injury suffered last night, and we won't see Shema until February. Suddenly we're quite thin up front.

It's obvious the PG position is going to be a big issue for this team this season. Comfortable with Gist at the point with Myers/Chavez sharing the back up role. I was actually excited about our depth in the front court (Shema, Nelly, Van Eyck and Brown). Now with Brown out and Shema not slated to play for 3 weeks, we have no depth inside. Koroma can help a little and Jean Louis is a 3. We really need to see what Shema can offer and hopefully Brown will recover soon. I imagine we’ll be up and down until we are full strength.

Well, that sucks. Koroma and Crafoord are very young. I guess we have to hold our breath that Dylan and Nelly can stay out of foul trouble. Also, with Shema’s start date moved to February, will RP consider redshirting him?

The ball gets in his hands and it stops. Just dribbles way too much and looks to shoot first.

Also, with Shema’s start date moved to February, will RP consider redshirting him? It's a good question re Shema, especially if the MAAC misses a ton of games due to COVID. If Iona doesn't become a true contender in this league, I don't see why you'd waste him. Honestly, it feels like the entire MAAC is going to go 10-10 anyway. With this format, no one's going 15-5. 13-7 might win the league.

If Shema can return in February without any further risk I would hope he plays. He could still help effect the outcome of the conference if he's as good as advertised. Plus will give him experience at this level which will help him next year.

Gist didn’t think and play like a point guard tonight, that is the gist I was afraid we would see. He needs to listen to Pitino and play pass first like he did last night or this team wont be any good.

Stop stressing, everyone!

Tonight not so much but I believe Fairfield, keeping us in a half court grinder pace had something to do with that. Also, our court spacing was not great tonight, compared to yesterday. I think Myers and Chavez both have promise, but their young and need experience.
