I have to agree with 70 here. This was a tactical win - not the system win that we saw when a Cluess teams gelled. I thought our guys adjusted to what was thrown at them, and we are starting to see the new guys (freshmen) grow. Even gentleman Nelly (compliment) is starting to show a little edge. Like a lot of you, I don't like watching paint dry even if the product is a work of art. Cluess teams rarely jelled in December. I will take it. But this team has not jelled.. far from it. Haven't exactly played any good competition last 5 games (4-1). Just trying to be realistic. I see these ooc throw together games as exhibitions. Just doesn't really feel like they matter. League games yes obviously. Maac is still a 15 or 16 seed unless someone dominates the conf, which with these b2bs seems unlikely. Given COVID, new coach/system and new players, are you surprised we haven't gelled yet?

My biggest concern is not the lack of depth, because in time I expect that to improve, but the long distance shooting of Dylan van Eyck. The rest of his game is outstanding, rebounding, passing and scoring around the basket. And the 3pt shots he is getting are good ones. He's open and doesn't have to rush the shots, he's just not making them. On the season he's shooting 5-26, under 20%. My hope is that Rick and his staff can help him to improve.

If the biggest concerns we have are DYE not making 3s and the team playing inconsistent when considering COVID, new system and mostly new roster, I'd say we're doing GREAT.

Agree, we have had some bumps in the road, but we are 5-3. Last year with a much more experienced and talented squad we started out 5-12. That was with Jelly, EJ and Agee. Watching Pitino and Stanley’s work is a joy after last year’s debacle.

No, not at all. Just hoping for improvements each game. They did that in this game in 2nd half. Adjustments were very good. To answer would I rather see them lose? Had they followed up the 1st half with an equally bad 2nd, then probably. Each time iona has lost this year they came out with a great performance the next time around. Hopefully some consistency starts showing up soon. C'mon if some of us weren't complaining what's the point of this board!?
