Two things: 1. When rating the teams, after Siena, I think that you can just flip a coin. But maybe Monmouth does look a little better, But not much. 2. Individual stats really fluctuate with only the Gaels holding steady.

I guess you have to place Monmouth 2nd in power rankings because of their 7-3 MAAC record. Having said that, I'm not overly impressed from the times I have watched them play. They need both Pappas and Hammond to shoot great from 3 to win. They are a donut team, nothing in the middle. Have to think Pitino will exploit that especially if Shema is back healthy and James is able to contribute.
One point about the stats to consider. In this crazy covid season they can be a bit misleading. Some stats are based solely from just playing MAAC games while others are combined MAAC and OOC games. Makes a difference. Despite that some interesting stats do pop out.
Manny camper, is leading the MAAC in both rebounding and assists. Long way to go but that's probably never happened before.
Van Eyck is in the top ten in rebounding and assists, pretty impressive for a 6'9" kid. His stats would even be a bit higher if only against MAAC competition. Crazy I had to defend his game yesterday to a certain fan base. Lol.
Siena's Jordan King, a walk in last season is up there in ppg, apg and 3pt shooting. Reason I mention him? We need Chavez to be our Jordan King. He showed that type of ability at the JUCO level. Would place Iona at another level if he's able to pick up his production. Important piece to the puzzle for Iona.
Last person that stands out is NJJ. He's all over the place on these lists. Really impressive considering with such a late start he had. I know I was surprised when Pitino called him Iona's best freshman recruit and how much he will help and that was before he arrived on campus, and here we are. That's why I'm so anxious to see Shema, who Pitino says with work has NBA potential. We have all learned Pitino doesn't throw compliments around like this. Hope he's back on the court in February.

Monmouth's handled everyone not named Siena, so they are the second-best team.
People around the MAAC would feel VERY differently about us had we not lost to Fairfield.
Assuming the schedule holds true, it's going to be tough sledding for the Gaels. Marist is one of those mid-pack teams, and we see them on the road coming out of shutdown (for now!), and those are huge games. Win both and we stake a claim for true MAAC contender. Split and we're kinda where we are right now. But those games are two weeks from now, so we'll have to wait and see where things are shaking out by then.

I thought that Monmouth looked at their best in their two game split with SPU. Not as good since. But, as sharkey said, they're good when Pappas and Hammond are good from deep. It did take a poor, and unusual, FT performance from Hammond to pull out a loss from Siena.
