I actually saved the attached on March 4, 1985 as I was thrilled to see the Gaels at 23 in the USA Today Top 25. Look closely and you will see a marking indicating 21 as they moved up 2 notches after beating Fordham in the MAAC Finals. Thank You Gael85! I just spent 20 minutes going through old Iona clips I had kept and couldn’t find this. Worth it because I Found some other nice ones I forgot I had!

Great read about the iona/fordham rivalry. Even after Fordham left the maac, we played them every year. I find it curious that in all of Tim Cluess seasons we didnt play Fordham, then when Tim got sick and the team was in shambles We hear about a 4 year deal. Rick Pitino comes in and sounds like the 4 year deal? ? If Kyle Neptune can not turn it around and make Fordham at least respectable in the A10, nobody will take the job as it comes with an expiration date, and zero support from the admin. The job has taken out coaches like Jeff Neubauer, Tom Pecora, Dereck Whittenburg, Bob Hill, and Nick Macarchuk who at least won a couple of Patriot regular-season titles and one conference championship. Since jumping to the A-10 they have had one season with 10 or more wins in the conference. The best thing for Grasso was not getting the Fordham job and getting to work with Cluess. This year Fordham has some decent players Kam'ron Cunningham - 6'7" SF who averaged 10 last year at Mississippi Valley State Chuba Ohams - 6'9" PF who has not done much but was a 3★ recruit who had offers from Iona as well as some Big East and Big 10 schools. DJ Gordon - 6'5" Freshman SG who transferred from Penn State. Had offers from Big East, Big 10, ACC programs. Darius Quisenberry - 6'1" G who averaged 14.9 points at Youngstown State Jalen Cobb - 6'1" G - averaged about 10 ppg his first three seasons. Antonio Daye Jr. - 6'1" FIU transfer who averaged 17 and almost 5 assists last season. Pat Kelly, - 6'8" Freshman SF - 3★ recruit who transferred from Penn State. Also had ACC, and Big East offers. Redshirted as a freshman and then last season did nothing. Abdou Tsimbila - 6'8" PF Freshman - 3★ recruit who transferred from Penn State. Penn State was his highest offer. Did not do much last year. Ahmad Harrison - 6'1" PG Freshman - 2★ recruit who had offers from ASU, SJU and Rutgers at some point in his high school career. This next recruiting cycle is going to be very important for Kyle Neptune. If he lands a few good local players, a good JUCO Big, and wins 7 or 8 games in the A10 this season, he might be on his way to turning things around. If he has 3 or 4 conference wins and less than an amazing recruiting cycle, it will be another soul lost in the corridors of Rose Hill Gymnasium. With that said, Jeff Neubauer looked like he was going to possibly turn it around and ended up in a dumpster fire. Neptune has an advantage being from NYC . He is also one of Jay Wrights disciples, but so was Baker Dunleavy (.448), Ashley Howard (.395), Tom Pecora (.462), Joe Jones .500, Billy Lange (.451), Jason Crafton (.303), Fred Hill(.379) and Patrick Chambers (.516) have not really set the hoops world on fire. In their combined coaching jobs at any level, they account for 1 NIT championship, 1 NCAA Div 1 appearance and 1 Division III Sweet 16 appearence. I wish Neptune the best but he has one hell of an uphill battle trying to fix all that's wrong with Fordham.

Read on the Fordham board that it’s current president is retiring in June 2022. Their hope is the new president will see the value of a good basketball program.

This has become a very entertaining thread. Nice to read that there's maybe a brighter future at Fordham.

Iona's added the ASUN challenge to the OOC, though both dates' opponents say TBD. Probably didn't just finish the update, as I'm 99% sure Liberty's locked in for the 19th.

The TBD part is befuddling. Agreed, though, that it's a solid schedule and SID's release is very well presented.

In my memory this is the first time that we have ZERO away games in our OOC schedule. And we'll have games in all three downstate arenas. Don't know how we'll do, but the schedule is a great one. JMO.
