Very strange transferring at this late date. Siena also expected to land transfer Andrew Platek just a few days before classes begin

It's going to be tough to scout MAAC teams.

…or a Masiello over dose! Maybe the kid experienced a few of Masiello’s practices and decided to flee to clown show.

Ndefo is returning to St Peter's. Good for the MAAC.

Huge for SPU and MAAC. SPU can easily be preseason #2.

ic59, I know you are still on the MAAC board. Get ready for some incredible spin once Platek is granted his waiver. BTW, doesn't change Iona and SPU being preseason 1-2

sharkey, the MAAC Board really confuses things about Siena. I'm of the opinion that Siena will finish in the bottom half of the MAAC, but I realize that they have a mostly new roster. Their posters indicate that the UNC recruit will put them as Iona's main competition. Of course that could just be posturing, or they might just be reading too much MTS on the Siena board. For me, I'll keep Siena well into the bottom half, but admit that opinion is based upon what they lost and not on what they have coming in.

Platek is a nice add, but Ndefo returning to SPU is a much bigger impact on the MAAC. Platekin 4 years has a shooting line of 40/29/67 averaging 2.6ppg. With platek now joining the starting 5 it's likely that siena doesn't start a kid that averages 30% for their career from three. Yet, they say Iona's poor shooting in Greece brings the Gaels closer to the pack? Comical.

As far as the transfer portal and the new no sit out rule, there was a lot of concern the MAAC would get crushed. Have to give the MAAC programs credit because you can make the argument that the transfer portal helped the MAAC more than hurt it, as well as the extra year of eligibility due to covid.
Iona is clearly #1 preseason. SPU with Ndefo back now has the best defensive/shotblocker player not only in the MAAC but one of the best in the country. They are very athletic and return solid guard play led by Matt Lee one of the better point guards un the MAAC. Bring in a transfer guard who will contribute and added size with 2 freshmen 6'9" bigs, one of which had multiple higher than MAAC level offers. In my opinion clear choice for preseason #2.
