Not sure, but my wife told me that snow is a possibility for Friday. Still early. Free set of snow tires with every ticket

Rutgers has a half million living alums. Iona has less than 50,000. Now who realistically is doing better in filling seats? I'm tired of the negativity. Understood. But the goal should be to have a Rutgers type atmosphere. By far the best in the NY metro area.

If Rutgers had the same proportion of alums at games as Iona, their average attendance would be more than 20,000.

Average attendance for 79-80 was 2,856. Believe that was our highest all-time average.

Average attendance for 79-80 was 2,856. Believe that was our highest all-time average. The gym held more people then; bleacher seating only and no requirement for ADA compliant access in the stands. That and the addition f chair back sections reduced overall capacity.

Average attendance for 79-80 was 2,856. Believe that was our highest all-time average. As I recall they also allowed for a little standing room back then also. One of the other older guys may be able to clarify. I'm pretty sure there were some games over capacity.

Students were routinely let in through doors away from the main entrance.

Just about all sporting events allowed Standing Room Only tix.

Can't find the actual #, but the 1978 Iona-Detroit game was always regarded as the attendance record holder with 3000+. All the aisles were filled with fans sitting and watching the game. Both ends of the court were packed with standees. Iona lost 76-72 to a team which had 3 NBA players and was coached then by the little-known Dick Vitale.

Fordham Iona 85 fight game had 3298, no aisles, absolutely packed. That was #1 in old media guides. They no longer include old attendance on pdf on website with records. I believe I was at Detroit game but young and don’t remember. Just recall my father talking about Vitale.

Pretty sure the Ram mascots head got stolen then eventually returned. The good ole days when the opponents brought their cheerleaders and Army brought its band which was just as entertaining as the game.

Iona AD should run an incentive program for staff to fill the arena. Bonuses for every sell out. I bet RP would fund this out of his own pocket if it came down to it. Filling the HAC shouldn’t take much effort and it would make all the difference in the world.

Saw someone say that had an extra ticket possibly. I don't need one but just a reminder if you do have anything to spare, prob best to leave a post here. Last year I had a couple to the Hofstra game that was sold out and I was happy to help a fellow gael out.
