It's only been eight games, but most fans probably agree with the assessment that we are not a strong enough rebounding team to which I also agree. But this week I got to watch a three hour workout by the team on You Tube. And what a difference I saw in the August workout. We had Shema and Krystoviak (Sp?) on the court and we looked big. So, TA did a VG job in putting together a roster, in a rediculus(Sp?) period of time but sometimes injuries make a difference.

You agreed with yourself, I would say you are one of a kind, but I guess you are 2 of a kind🤦
Verbal Commits gives all the Iona players by position. It's color coded and includes commits and offers by class year. Far from a finished product, but good for a starting point.
Looking ahead to next season. I've recently watched a lot of college BB (in part due to the writers strike) and noticed that just about all of the major teams have two guys on the court at 6'8 or taller. And looking at our roster and commits, Adewale and Hogarth fit that description. Along with just about every poster I'm sure that our last (as of now) scholarship will go to big guy. So that gives us three players for the center, PF positions. Gordon and Brice are athletic, under-sized front court players, that can fit the big man role, in conference play. So, if nothing changes we have the following options: 1. Play a three guard rotation, since it looks like we'll have a number of guards who can play. 2. Try and get by with Gordon and Brice at the SF position. They seem to have ideal size but haven't shown the skills associated with the SF position. 3. And, imo, that leaves us with Alex Bates. While I haven't seen much of him in game action, he is athletic (participated in the slam dunk contest) and in the SF game hit a nice 3pt shot (he's 3-7 on the year from deep), and has shown some potential at the SF position.

Adewale is listed at 6-7, and even that is a bit of a stretch. We definitely need more size, and my guess is we'll get a stretch 4-5 type 6-9 kid from the portal to complement what we have returning and what's already coming in.
I know you love labeling those positions, but really in this system (5-out motion) there isn't much in the way of traditional roles. Our bigs are almost always going to be stretch guys, with little in the way of back to the basket skills. I think as long as our guards mostly have good size and our wing types can rebound some, we'll be OK in this system.

Guy, thanks. I label positions because for most people who have followed BB it is easier to understand. In a way I was comparing our system to majors that are always on tv. When you say we'll be okay in this system, I agree we'll be okay in MAAC play, but am not sure that our system can thrive in OOC play. And in the NCAA tournament, when we get there.

It seriously took you until 90 to know majors start 2 bigs? Just say I'm bored and need to type something

Tobin's system worked pretty well in the NCAAs last year.

Fido, down boy. Good dog.
Guy, you might want to keep Fido locked up when you're having company over.
