Press was very effective. Offensive was very patient. Charleston got way more calls which is to be expected. But the one at the end there should have been called against Gordon. Can't be anything other than excited about the potential of this team. Sucks that Oz is out, especially if it's for awhile. He certainly would have helped protect the rim in this game. Agreed. We had about 8 empty trips in a row while we were leading 56-54. I really felt If we were to make a few shots in that stretch and set up our press, the outcome could have been different.

1. Tobin had team well prepared. 2. We need to find a 3 pt shooter so the other team can’t pack the lane. 3. We go very deep into the shot clock. I would like to see us ready to shoot around the 10 second mark. 4. I love the defensive intensity. 5. Boccelli is a very good player for Charleston. 6. This team will get better and better this season. We are going to enjoy this season!

Team is pretty much what TA said it would be, up tempo on both ends. I'd give the Offense a C+ and the Defense an A. Not the Iona type of team that I've been used to with no low post player. Maybe Oz will fill that role when he returns though he usually plays on the perimeter. On the plus side I don't remember an Iona team that pressed as long and as well. Expect our 3Pt shooting to improve as the team plays more games and we get more comfortable. Can't say we're better than most of the MAAC based on one game. But, I am encouraged.

Gordon was terrific and Tretout quietly put up big numbers. Quigley and Williams showed they can play. Perhaps we’ll see more of Quigley down the stretch of games in place of Brown due to his foul shooting deficiency.
Oz could very well be the difference maker. I’m going to speculate he will be our 2nd or 3rd best player.

Not sure if Boccelli can ball, but he's a hell of a singer! Policelli is a great player, but not sure he can sing.

For all FURP talked about tipped passes and loose ball recoveries , no Iona FURP team did as much as I saw today. Don't know if you could tell on TV but crowd was raucous all night. A true big time road game

Good job Rick only took 4 yrs to unleash the press, oh wait FURP. Glad Tobin is out coach, team pressed and played he ard for 40 minutes, definitely the old 40 minutes of hell. Offense will get better with better shot selection. If this was our 2nd toughest opponent we are in good shape, don't know how many maac teams are deep enough to hang with us all night. I would take this team against any of our last 3 teams, they talked about D and backed it up. If this team doesn't get the HAC rocking with this style, it will never be better than a regular chair.

We will never win a buzzer beater , no matter who is coaching or playing! On the positive side Tobin is a better coach than Pitino, we finally have a coach who really presses. And due to the defense he is better than cluess. This team plays good enough d to beat a major, you couldn’t say that with cluess. Team could use another big and another 3 point shooter. Panza missed every 3. But this team is definitely as good if not better than any maac team. With 4 seconds, down 2, inbounding the ball, at least they executed a play to win the game. By comparison, FURP's team in that very similar situation in the MAAC tourney turned it over. Aside from that shot not falling at the buzzer (as it never will), I can't remember being this encouraged by a loss.

Not sure how Oz will fit in with this motion style offense, which seems to put an emphasis on quickness, although I'm sure his 3pt shooting and shot blocking will be a big help. Not sure, but it seems that our defense wore down Charleston, when you consider: * 1st half stats for C of C-FG% 51.5, 3pt% 26.6 * 2nd half stats for C of C-FG% 30.7, 3pt% 7.7 P.S. Does anyone think that Oz might struggle in this offense, or will TA just adjust the offense when he returns?

Tobin drew up a play that got us a great look. But no faith we will ever hit one after fooling myself for a minute last night.

Putting my Iona fandom aside - what a great basketball game. Had a big game feel from the tip all the way to the last play. I had a feeling the ball was going to go to Panzo with the last shot and I kept thinking he was due since he hadn't made a three all night. Basketball gods had other plans but I already love this team and this coach and am very excited for what's to come. The biggest difference between Pitino and Tobin is Tobin lets the young guys make mistakes and keeps them in the game. Pitino had an extremely quick hook when young guys would make mistakes and I felt that sometimes that would lead to a lack of confidence in certain players. It's clear that freshmen will play a big role this season.
