Would be interesting to try to go back year by year for all of these super close games and see if the paranoia is warranted, or if it's just easy to remember the bad moments and not the good ones.
Have to remember Joe's criteria. We have to be losing when the shot is taken and time has to expire while the ball is in the air. I can recall plenty of times we hit big shots with a few seconds on the clock and also when opponents missed, Joe's criteria or otherwise. It is a pointless obsession. The Universe is not out to get us.
350 D1 teams playing 30 games in a year is 10,500 games. Halve that because the teams play each other and we're talking 5,250 games. We see a handful of "true" buzzer beaters. We see them because they are rare.
During the 2018-19 season there were 5,826 games.

Unfortunately, student section tickets are now being sold to the general public, but this is nice to see
Love to see this kinda stuff. Get out there. So many more kids on campus with the new dorms. Should be able to get a few hundred to attend a Friday night game.

if it is general admission how do you know it is the student section? By the way we never had a demand under FURP to sell those

Yes my criteria is rare, but there hasn't been even one in a tie game in many years, and I can't recall one with under 10 seconds left in many many years. If we went back to the inception of this board don't think you would find any sort of last second big shot on any thread. Last I remember were John McDonald hit a tiebreaker against I believe Manhattan, Tariq Kirksay hit one with a second or two left against Fordham, and Gary Springer hit a long tiebreaker in OT against Wagner. These players weren't even playing this century!
I would love someone to take up Guy's challenge, I should not be the one as I am biased. I am pretty sure you would see that there really hasn't been any in many many years. I would even more like to see how many legit misses there have been. It's a very high number and I would be surprised if we don't have the worst percentage in all of D1 on buzzer beaters since 1980. Yes I'm a bit obsessed with this, but go ahead someone prove me wrong, its statistically crazy that we haven't hit one!
Hitting one on Tobin's first game really would have been a great time to end this streak. For the first time since I can remember I honestly thought it was going in, I even texted a couple of guys on this board that I thought we would get the ball to Panza for a game winning three and that he would hit it, but the jinx stopped that from happening!
Sorry to go off a tangent on this thread, tomorrow is a big game. Hoping for a great atmosphere and to come out with Tobin's first win. Wish King Oz was playing, so he could get the standing ovation I had looked forward to giving him all Summer!

I could be wrong but I recall AJ more than once making shots to take the lead and ultimately win with less than 10 seconds remaining. None of which were buzzer beaters.

The map states one section as the student section. They don’t open it up as a selection because it’s reserved for students. It’s now open.

Jon severe hit a layup late in the game to beat nevada at the great alaskan shootout. Aj english missed a mid court heave against Louisiana Tech in the Nit’s. I thought aj hit a a shot to beat st peters at hynes, fracas immediately followed.

I was at both Nevada in Alaska & @ LA Tech-- both true. (Really thoughy AJ's was in.)
Our starting lineup is much more seasoned group than our second team, but I loved the change of pace and more intense press we got from the second team. Thought they brought an intensity that was fun to watch. Like the idea of this unit getting 6 minutes a half to wear down our opponents.
I know I would get killed for this on Twitter but my initial impression of Tobin Anderson is we upgraded the coaching position. Not only that but he is immensely more likable and personable than his predecessor, and it will be nice to see a coach who is not so stubborn and lets kids learn from their mistakes. He has never coached this much talent before, and I think it’s only going to enhance his coaching ability. And the recruits will only get better when kids see his style and he has more time to recruit. I believe he may be one of the best coaching minds in the country, and he is ours for now. Think he brings a fresh, original offensive and defensive coaching philosophy that is going to win games we probably wouldn’t normally win. We really are going to enjoy his time at Iona!

FYI, school is closed today, so you won't see banner unveil tonight. Theyre making a mad push to get students there, but if they arent quite there in full force, this is why.
