High Point is very hot, I assume that they will cool off a bit. Hope so anyway.
It’s very early and our team still needs to gell.
My biggest concern is our offense. Small sample of games so far but the exclusive reliance on the 5 out dribble drive offense is a big mistake; boring and ineffective. Have we seen a single pick and roll? I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve seen an Iona player cut through the lane without the ball. Maybe this will change when Shema comes back but this is a problem.

Iona looks so confused on defense. Hopefully they can figure it out sooner than later. Are we worse on offense or defense? Or equally bad on both? Why the two techs on HP? |

The press is leading to so many open looks. Offense struggling obviously too.
Hopefully they play better tomorrow because this is really ugly.

Disappointing performance. Wont say much more than that.
The 5 freshman played well last few minutes.

Looked like a bunch of guys who haven't played much together, who got smacked early by a team ready to play & who shot the ball very well. Couldn't climb out of that hole.

It’s not primarily a matter of execution; this offense is not very effective unless you have an Uber quick slasher who gets to the rim at will and an array of 3 points snipers waiting outside for open shot opportunities. We don’t have that slasher on the team and an offense like this will not get better with the present personnel, even when they have played together for months. We have to start running some ball screen's, give and goes, back cuts, etc. I see absolutely none of that. |
