Unfortunately, no games against Boston College at the time this aired (I thought they might be referencing an actual game).
The Gaels did defeat the Terriers on the road in 1982.

I was at the game, part of an overnight Goal Club bus trip. Didn't think we'd win as Steve Burtt was back home in Harlem with his grandmother who was sick. Game played at the Walter Brown Arena (he owned the Celtics). BB court on an upper floor with a hockey rink on the first floor.

Late to the party but related: On an episode of Blue Bloods, Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) says a slain honors student was trying to choose between a full scholarship to Fordham or Iona. Producers on the show attended both schools... a couple references to Iona through course of all the seasons. I don't remember specific episode but there's one where there's a college basketball game on the TV in Frank's office while he's talking to someone and it's Vin Parise doing a standup interview during a broadcast. Vin and I were friends with the producer in school. |
