Rick Pitino attracted talent, period. Rick Pitino leaves and so does the talent. Iona is not capable of being a program bigger than it is in the MAAC, where ultimately the games don’t matter. I’m sick of hearing from this fan base about how the local schools are ducking us. I’ve personally watched Fordham and St. John’s kick our ass before. Iona isn’t special. when did that happen? what are you smoking?

Have to disagree with this, 100%. We are special. We are a school that is about 100 years younger than Fordham and if you are referring to when they kicked our ass, you must be referring to the time when ALL the games were played at Rose Hill. Maybe someone can come up with the record since we started playing games in New Ro? Granted that SJU has a higher BB profile. But that is in large part due to the emergence of the BE, which came at the time when we passed them with JV and Jeff. And I feel confident in saying that we are now well ahead of them in the classroom. I'll close by saying that the growth of Iona since WWII has been remarkable. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but that is when I joined the Iona scene.

Fordham has been ducking us all through the Cluess and Pitino years. Tobin verified this in his latest interview. I don’t think we’ve played Fordham since about 2006 and to find a game where they kicked our ass you’d probably have to go back to the late 80’s early 90’s I believe.
St John’s beat us by like 12 at the Garden in 2017 IIRC. The most recent game we played them before that was when we beat them by double digits in 1995 at the Garden, IIRC. Since 1950 we’ve only played 7 times.
Edit: the last time we played Fordham was at Fordham in 2006. The Rams won by sixteen. That was Ruland’s 2-26 season.

To be fair, Tobin himself has said Fordham won't play us except at Rose Hill. Tobin correctly told him to piss off.

In fairness to the oarsman, I think he was trolling us, and knew what responses he'd get.

In fairness to the oarsman, I think he was trolling us, and knew what responses he'd get. Not trolling. We play in the MAAC. It’s basically irrelevant basketball in comparison. That’s why all the golden eggs high tailed it out of here when the goose left town. But at least we still have Shema..

Having met and spent time with most of the guys on the team, I'd say they are mostly good guys. Hardly a ringing endorsement.

Well, before he changed it, mostly was spelled motley. So there's that.

But never explained it.
