Cjb i agree 100%. It is obvious. With the new multiple transfer policy it is only going to get worse, for us. This was clearly done by design. I dont know what the answer is. If there is an answer. We might be a single A team funneling talent up to triple AAA and the majors. We might try to figure out how to dominate our conference. Maybe dropping down to Div 3 to go back to student/amateur competition would be refreshing. I mean come on, does anyone really want to drop down to D3! Our program has been in the D1 NCAA tourney 6 times in the last decade. Yes the new rules make it a lot harder, but this is a crazy thought. Instead of 1200 at Hynes we would have 120. My point earlier remains--the NCAA keeps making changes to stack the deck in their favor, and the little guys still end up doing damage. And while three quarters of the MAAC probably SHOULD consider dropping to D3 due to a lack of funds/interest, Iona is not among that majority.

Let's see how the NCAA feels when tournament interest fade as there in no longer a slingshot against Goliath.

Let's see how the NCAA feels when tournament interest fade as there in no longer a slingshot against Goliath. I think this is the only reason they haven’t kicked us out already. But they want to limit the number of slingshots they hand out.

We don’t even get an NIT bid anymore if we win our regular season. Which was a very important tournament for mid/small majors. 20 pointless games

LOL I made an innocuous comment about how I’m sure the players are good guys, which you had to question for some reason. I don't want to argue about this but you really think all our players every year are good people lol Just a reminder that the kids read this Board.

Ladies and Gentlemen, that is the definition of the word hypocrite. 2 different things. on every team i coached there are kids you wouldnt be friends with. That is a fact. BUT WE WERENT GOING TO TALK ABOUT EACH KID WERE WE? you wanted us to say most of these kids wouldnt have played last year and tell you the one or two that would be lucky enough to, do you really not see a difference? Someone please distract i59 with a basketball fact so he has something to do.

I may as well help, because I'm a giver.
It's true, not every person who has put on an Iona uniform is a likeable, good individual. We can point to guys during literally every coaching tenure going back decades and find plenty of good guys and plenty of not-so-good guys. Here in year 1 of the Tobin era, I'll say that these are all pretty good guys.
When we compare last year to this year in terms of talent, let's remember that Pitino often lamented not having a bench here, to the point where guys like Sunday and Ayo couldn't even get run. Last year, only 8 guys played more than 13 min per game, and of those 8, 6 averaged more than 26--yes, 26--minutes per game. So, really, I would say at least 4-5 guys on this year's roster would have been part of last year's rotation IN THEORY--BUT--this is Pitino, and he didn't play guys like Ayo and Sunday who CLEARLY have talent. What we learned from Ricky P is that he wasn't a fan of rolling frosh out there for extended period of time, which means even JQ and Aranguren wouldn't see the run they're seeing now. As for the older guys, same deal, Pitino likes complete players and all those Grad guys plus Gordon have varying flaws.
