And by that I mean, being introduced to TA or members of his staff? And Guy doesn't have to answer, but I guess I'm wondering if I'm the only guy who hasn't. And, the last Iona coach I met was Tra Arnold, although I did meet our last coach about 10 years ago up at Saratoga when he was HC at Louisville. And if you did meet TA, what were the circumstances of your meeting? Thanks.

I met him in a dream. He and I were watching the Super Bowl and the Packers were killing the Chiefs. My dog was there and she could talk and spoke English. She kept interrupting when I asked any Iona questions.
Not really sure, but possibly because of the people that I had met at the last two home games (Jimmy V/MSM) and hadn't seen in a number of years. Also, at the Jimmy V reception our 'table' was hosted by a very nice young lady from the Alumni office. I asked her if she had heard anything about the health of a former Alumni office legend, Eydie Jordan. And she told me that the name didn't 'ring a bell'. So I guess I wanted to know if my connection to Iona was a thing of the past.

I haven't. But I have spoken to most of our other coaches in recent years. Guess TA prefers privacy.

Tobin is the most outgoing coach we've had in my time.

I met Ruland one time. Very intimidating, but nice guy! Met Cluess multiple times. He's just the best. Always acts like he knows me, even if he's just pretending to be nice, it's still pretty cool!

Ruland was a trip. Love him. Had a couple of late nights with him. He'd pull out a cigar and hold court. Always interesting.

While I agree with Guy's assessment, I don't remember reading many posts about Board members talking about their conversations with TA or RP for that matter. Like all of you I do get to see many post game pressers and also read twitter stuff about TA.
Have there been other Board members that have spoken with him?

Quick story/comparison
Isaiah Pasha took his visit to Iona last season during the preseason Maroon and Gold scrimmage. After the scrimmage I was at the Courtside seats talking to Pasha and his mom. Nice conversation, about Iona in general and the program. Pitino walked over. Pasha's mom mentioned to him the nice stuff she was hearing about Iona.
The little prick just gave me a look "ok, get lost"...lol. not a word.
This past summer I attended a golf outing with Guy, and if I remember his board name correctly, JPR. just minutes there, while talking to the Women's staff, Tobin showed up. Tobin gave a nice hello to Guy, and after Guy introduced me, Tobin stood there for a bit just talking to a small group. Very engaging and sincere.
Fast forward and while sitting at the table for dinner, Tobin came over to talk to the group, and shocked me by joking "hey its Gaelforce from Twitter"..pretty sure Pat Wallace told him.
Long story short, Tobin made the rounds and stopped by our table a few times (honestly having Guy there certainly heled). The staff was just as engaging and down to earth. Can tell they appreciated being at Iona and the passion of the fan base.
Tobin and staff are great, both on and off the court
sharkman, thanks. I think you proved Guy's point. And giving it further thought I think it comes down to the absence of post game GC receptions, like in the the 'old days'. There you would get an opportunity to speak with the coaches. Now with the pre game receptions you can't expect the coaches to attend since they are preparing for the game. So, while I probably would not attend a post game reception (get home too late) I would look forward to reading the posts of those who did attend. And, if it was a day game, I might even attend and get to speak with the coaches. Who knows, might even ask a question or two.

59, when you ask your questions, please ask about Farias. Maybe coach knows…

Good point about the post-game receptions giving fans more opportunities to mingle with the staff. And heck, there are even fewer pregame receptions this year, it feels like, though the coaches don't go to those.
I will say I had ample opportunities to talk to Tobin during the offseason, and I know you had been wondering about dropping by those summer workouts. I don't think Tobin wants 400 fans at every practice, but as long as they know you're coming they'd welcome you.
