My biggest disappointment with the game had to do with the coaching, and while I'm complaining about it, I can understand why it played out as it did. My complaint had to do with the lack of changes in our game plan. With GG gone and Qz hurting it was business as usual. But, in fairness to TA, GG just left the team and there might not have been time to install something different. As a result the bench accumulated 44 minutes of PT, which is probably not enough when we press all game. And our final play down three was very uninspiring. And, yes I know that there was very little chance of any play working. Not even sure who was on the court, though I believe our shortest player had the ball surrounded by much taller guys, which changed difficult to impossible. I'll be back with some bright spots.

Kids fought back. Nobody wants to win more than they do. Maybe this roadtrip will help bring them together One piece falls out, they need to redefine roles and players need to step up. Let see how they do tomorrow.

Obviously Tobin wasn't going to say a ton and be very specific, but his answers to that question as well as a couple others said lots |

Although we lost there were some highlights. And some disappointments. Highlights include:
* Joel Brown with six rebounds, nine assists, four steals and only two TO's. Shooting not great (3-9) and probably never will be, but he does fill up the score sheet.
* Sultan Adewale played 24 minutes and didn't miss a FG(3-3) or a FT(2-2).
* JQ, shortest Iona player on the court was the leading rebounder with seven. And, also had our ONLY block.
* The loss of GG didn't seem to affect WP, as he got open enough to hit five of his eight 3pt shots.
* Tretout led the team in scoring, but if my eyes were working he benefitted from two banked in threes. And hurt by the zebra's.
In my disappointment category, I have to list one of my FAVORITE Gaels, Jean Aranguren. Played 20 minutes and shot 2-7 and I was expecting better. Pretty sure he'll bounce back on Sunday when he goes up against a fellow frosh, Montgomery of MSM who was his team's high scorer, last night. Looking forward to it.

Agree 100%. Whether it's right or wrong this lawsuit that now allows unlimited transfers and NIL has changed the game. Haven't seen it play out much in the MAAC, but throughout the country fan bases appear to be holding players, and even staffs, more accountable as these kids are now being paid with some of the funds coming from donations to NIL collectives. GG probably had a nice NIL deal and now he's gone at the most crucial part of the season, so yeah fans want those questions asked Times have changed |

Jaden asked something like how did you expect the game to go without Greg, and Guy asked a similar question about the past 24 hours without mentioning Greg. Ken at the end directly asked if he had anything to say about the Greg Gordan situation. That’s the question that needed to be asked even though everyone knew he wouldn’t say much. I understand why both Jaden and Guy didn’t ask, but I was glad it was asked, and yes by hearing the answers to all 3 of their questions you at least got an idea of what happened and that it wasn’t some personal situation at home that resulted in Greg leaving. In no way does this move help Greg. He probably already regrets his actions that lead to his departure. |
