Surprised that there wasn't a bigger fuss made over a former Iona Women's player, Maggie Timoney, being the Grand Marshall in the NYC parade. What an honor.

Multiple interviews on NYC stations, Twitter stories, multiple LinkedIn stories. What more were you looking for? The NBC broadcast featured its typical poor camera work, with Tommy Smyth often overlooking announcing bands and marchers while reminiscing about his departed friends or individuals associated with the County. During the segment showcasing the Marshalls, the camera briefly captured Maggie for about three seconds, but the spotlight mostly remained on Tommy's wife, Treasa Goodwin-Smyth, who served as a Marshalls aid. Treasa received approximately a minute of coverage, while Gus Rosendale attempted to redirect the focus back to Maggie. Seamus Carey commendably promoted Iona and Maggie during the broadcast.

I liked the ads that Iona had during the parade broadcast. There was a very nice feature interview with Maggie that aired several days prior to the parade, I believe on NBC. It was linked on the Iona Twitter.

Great interview... but they should have remembered what she looked like while walking down the avenue. I agree. Those parade announcers are insufferable too. Ever since Captain Jack McCarthy retired in 1989, it has been down hill.
