Oh boy, is I70 going to have a field day with this. Not a problem as I passed up replying to one of his more thoughtful(??) responses in an effort not to take away from the recruit in question. That said, I was remiss in not posting the above in the "Roster" thread. And I would suggest if if anyone has an opinion post under Roster. But, I'll be interested to see whether you have total control over him. My focus was on your whole "we need a star" point--361 other teams are also looking for a star. TH roster is solid top to bottom, that's all we can ask for. |

But, I'm not sure if we have an Alpha Dog, even if we have Alpha types. Going into last season I thought that Oz, Tretout, Brown, and Gordon all had that title. I was wrong. |

Going into last season I thought that Oz, Tretout, Brown, and Gordon all had that title. I was wrong. Dejour Reaves is the alpha. Oz is too quiet to be an alpha, and Brown coming in from a horrible Cal team as a non-scorer wasn't going to be that either. It was going to be Tretout and/or Gordon all along, but as it turned out two alphas can cancel each other out. |

While we still don't know the committed recruit's identity, it seems safe to say that there are only two openings remaining. And with eleven on board the roster seems well rounded. If I had to ask for a position for one of the remaining spots, I'd ask for a 'star'. And by that I mean an English, a Clayton, a Jenkins, a Glover, etc. Of course, Guy, sharkey, 86 or someone else will say we already have him. It's .............. . Feel free to agree or disagree. I would argue none of these were stars when we recruited them. Glover had a great reputation, but not really a star. The others were all thought to be good, but not as good as they turned out. Let's see what happens with some of these recruits. |
