I realize that there is limited info coming out of these kinds of games and that they are scrimmages but this is still exciting news.

Rutgers' board has finally recognized that there was a scrimmage. One post and one reply. In other scrimmages, Forham/Chris Gaston is tweeting that FU's 1st team defeated Villanova's 1st team in a scrimmage and the Ram's 2nd team lost a close one (eight points). I'm surprised that FU fans haven't posted that the win should count on their regular season record. At least not yet.

From Big Apple Buckets, interesting note on the 4 guard offense : "Jon Rothstein tweeted that he heard the 6’1” James played some minutes at the power forward spot during Iona’s scrimmage against Rutgers. That’s both encouraging and troubling. It means that the Gaels were probably able to control tempo and run against a young Rutgers team, but it also makes me wonder how much Tim Cluess trusts Ridley, Nyandigsi Moikubo, Kristian Duravcevic and Josh Gomez to make an impact this season." nycbuckets.com/?p=501#more-501

The 4 guard strategy (when used) will rely upon them being too quick to cover man-to-man and shoot too well to use a zone. With all the strong shooters, someone will likely be hot, so stopping one or two of those undersized players should leave the others to thrive.
Should be interesting how this plays out.

There's no question the 4-guard strategy can work with the right personnel. Iona does have the right personnel.
The other thing we as FANS need to do is to evaluate this approach on the whole, not in short segments. I can already see Iona fans groaning if we give up a couple offensive rebounds and putbacks. Let me spare you the suspense--it's going to happen. But what's also going to happen is that we may be virtually unguardable on offense, and we will force a ton of turnovers on defense. Our FG% defense likely won't be great because the low post is going to be available for many opponents, but we'll turn opponents over and get a few easy buckets, too. We will not be "traditional" by any means.

Amen to what Guy said, particularly about turnovers. I would add that the bigger guys will get tired faster chasing the roadrunners.

the four guard setup will also create opportunities for Prime. If the guards are hot they will draw the D out and create a lot of mismatches for Mike against slower and less agile opponents in the paint. Opponents will not have the luxury of sitting in the zone and collapsing on Glover. Can't wait to see MoMo penetrating, drawing defenders and dishing to mike.
We could be seeing a great deal of this during the season:
