I know it's early in the season but Iona needs to find a way to play this run and gun offense without making so many mistakes. It's really frustrating. Also not to start any controversy but I'd rather see Jenkins and Armand get more minutes in favor of Machado and especially Jones logging so many minutes. I know we won but, still see so many negatives. I guess it's because I see how potentially good this team can be. Cluess really has his work cut out for him.
All in all I'm glad we won. Go Gaels!

I hope Mike Glover gets the ball more in the 3rd game...........Announcer Doug Gottlieb mentioned that there are about a dozen NBA scouts at these games. Machado has looked like he will win the national title in assists this year. As expected, they have an embarrassment of riches at the Guard position.......six are good enough to shine in the MAAC schedule and start......but there just won't be enough minutes to go around for several of them.

I have long liked Doug Gottlieb as an analyst. He has great insight into the game, and really communicates that well. For example, in the latter part of today's game, he mentioned that he would not allow the ball to back to Machado. Take your chances with the ball in MoMo's hands. Almost on cue, MoMo turned it over.
He was in awe of Machado, and said that without Scott Iona is a middle of the pack team - talented but middle of the pack without Scott. That is really something coming from a former star PG. He is not very impressed with our D.

Machado does look awesome, he is at another level right now, however no way is Iona a middle of the pack Maac team without him. They would be no worse than second.
Why did Jenkins get zero minutes?I think its unfair to play MoMo that much when he is playing bad, put Jenkins in the game. He played so well in the first half yesterday. I am not sure right now this team is any better with momo than without him. I personally would rather see Jenkins. Yesterday he had his chance to show us he is a winner and he choked. Hopefully he can win some games later in the year and especially in March but right now I feel bad for the other guys and the preferential treatment moMo is getting..
Smyth was awesome today but I would like to see him be a more consistent shooter throughout the year.
James is a phenomenal athlete.
Hopefully Glover is just slow out of the gates and hasn't regressed.
Offensively this team is a machine, even better than I thought they would be, partially because ridley is so good. Defensively they can't be much worse.
They need to win tomorrow.

This is basically what I was trying to say. Momo needs to be worked in to this team. Yes, he played in the Pac-10 and went to the elite-8, last year. But if he's stinking it up (not producing), sit him down, we have too many solid players not to do so. And Scott is the engine that makes this team goes, he has been for the past three years, I know this. But he does not need to log so many minutes when we have such solid back ups, who can produce. Just my opinion.

Iona almost has too much talent (offensively)....if one of the guards wants to steal some minutes...PLAY DEFENSE. the guard who shows the most effort on defense will steal minutes by the end of the season.
James is just a high energy guy and as others have said, is just a freak of an athlete. I think him, armand, and jenkins all need some of MoMo's minutes. Momo played 37 and 34 minutes in the first two games... i know it will be hard, but i think 25 minutes is closer to where he should be.
Machado needs to play, every minute he possibly can. Until he shows me a reason to change my mind on that, i dont agree with jenkins or armand getting minutes over him.
At some point, I see the rotation becoming a big problem for the Gaels. A lot of players are going to be unhappy. MoMo would not like sitting for jenkins/james/armand....But I do think jenkins and james deserve to play

This is the way we play boys, turbo. We want to win 85-75. Cluess will work on D as the season goes on, but not in PR where there's no time to practice. Look for more of the same Sunday.
As for Scott, you'd have to be nuts to cut into his minutes right now. Our strategy for this tourney is to outscore you and he makes the team go. Just like the Packers, we're gonna try to beat you in a shoot-out and he's our Aaron Rogers.
Cluess trying out all kinds of combinations; I love it. And how ridiculous was Ra'shad today.
Fasten your seat belts boys and the faint of heart might want to get out of the formula one car.

I think it will be interesting to see how Purdue shapes up against Alabama.
