This from Sean Brennan at CBS:
"Junior guard Kyle Smyth reinjured his left shoulder in practice on Thursday and did not make the trip to Vermont with the Gaels. Smyth is to have an MRI on his shoulder and visit Dr. Riley Williams at the Hospital for Special Surgery on Monday to determine the extent of his injury. Smyth had surgery on the same shoulder last spring."
Get back soon, Kyle. We need ya.

Damn, that doesn't sound good.
If it turns out as bad as it implies this is a big hit for us.
Yes, we have solid depth, but when Kyle is on the floor his instincts translate to a lot of positive qualities that aren't always tangible or easily replaceable.
I still think his absence in last years MAAC final was the difference in that game.
I hope things aren't too serious and he can return to the lineup as soon as possible.
Get better Kyle.

I wonder if his shoulder has been bothering him for a while now. I think his shot attempts were down a few games into the injury.
He's a competitor. Has he been toughing this out a while now?

Hope that this is precautionary because of the history with that shoulder. I look forward to seeing my "Gael" back on the court.

Right on CJB. He is a proven veteran that plays with great intensity and has a sweet shot. Hope you are OK and get back soon!

This is just terrible. I have always been a big fan of Kyle. I'm impressed with his shot; his ball hawking defense; how he can take the charge; and always giving 110%. He's as classy off the court as he is on the court. While I do not know him personally, I can just see it in the times I've seen him play live and in the "Armand TV" video. The last time I saw him in person was at Loyola last season. I watched him and JJ matching 3 point shots during warmups.
He's a big part of this team and I had a really bad feeling in the post game interview with Mike Glover yesterday when Glove said that "this one was for Kyle".
This team will keep playing hard; will continue to grow and improve; and will keep learning how to find a way to win. I just feel badly that Kyle may not be on the court for this special season.
Get better soon, Kyle.
Go Gaels!!!

Gaels are not the same team without Smyth. Gaels could have used him in a game like Vermont.

This team is diminished by the loss of any of the guys. Jermel and Sean can and will step up.

i think the gaels will be OK without Smyth for most conference games coming up....we are that far ahead of the conference teams in my opinion
but to win big games in the MAAC tourney and potential NCAA first round, we need his depth, defense, and experience

I'd rather they be careful with him now, even at the cost of a game or two then to take a chance and not have him for the MAAC tournament and post-season
