I don't think we could've expected the guys to have done any better on the ridiculous road odyssey from which they return today. Starting in Buffalo, coming home, going to Denver, returning home, back to W. Va, down to Va., up to Vermont, back down to Va. 7-1 in that stretch with the only loss to the best team, Marshall.
Now we're back to normal travel, scheduling with our first game next week in Hempstead. We win that and we lay claim to Kings of NYC area basketball, imo. They the guys get a nice treat of being able to play at MSG. Good for them, they've earned it. Bracketbuster at home. All in all don't think we could've realistically expected the team to be in better shape record-wise then where we are now.

How could anyone not be happy with a 6-1 record after that 7 game stretch. Take care of business at Hofstra and it's a very successful trip.

Had the folks on the NCAA committee known Iona's schedule, Momo probably wouldn't have been granted the waiver!

Cluess & company challenged this team with this road schedule. Quality teams aren't coming to North Ave, and the SOS of the Maac isn't going to raise eyebrows. Iona did their talking on the opponent's home court. Most other teams AD's & head coachs wouldn't take this risk. Congradulations to Cluess & company for going for it!!

I was taking the train from the Scarsdale train station into NYC the other day (my wife and I were taking our oldest granddaughter to see the tree/windows) when I happened to strike up a conversation with an even older man. He asked me about my Army service, and when I mentioned time in Germany in 1960-61, he said I was a kid by comparison. He mentioned that he was in the Battle of the Bulge (December, 1944). He and most of his friends thought that WWII was just about over and they were waiting to go home. And we know how that turned out. It makes me think about the road trip, and how many think that it's over, and we're waiting to play at home. And then there was the Battle of Remagen (Sp?), "A Bridge Too Far". So I hope we're going into the Hofstra game with Yogi in mind, "It's not over till it's over". I do have faith in TC and his Staff.

Like I said, I figured last night's game could go two ways: 1. Bastogne (Battle of the Bulge), where we are surprised, take an early beating, but come back and win. 2. Arnhem (A Bridge Too Far). We over reach, fight hard but can't overcome poor planning.
I was hoping for Bastogne.

I lived through WWII. Only OT was around for Waterloo and the Little Big Horn.
