Jimmy McIvor IONA '59 died last night of a heart attack. Famous as a great supported of IONA Basketball...and the owner of Rumm's Tavern in NYC. Great friend and a Catholic Gentleman, I'll miss him. Details? Viewing on 1/3 and funeral Mass on 1/4. If anyone has more details (Where? What church?) please post them. Thanks, Frank Malone IONA '60

Sorry to hear this. Though not a contemporary of Jim's, I remember him as a diehard Gael fan and often spoke with him at home and away games. I believe the last time I saw him was at the CIT final last year. A very nice man who always had a broad smile on his face and would invite me to stop by his tavern sometime. Sadly, I never made it there, but will always have fond memories of him. My condolences to his family and friends, may Jim rest in peace.

McIvor was also an Assistant BB Coach with Warren Issacs under Gene Roberti (73-75). I used to frequent Rumms pub in the Mid-80's during my party days. Good Guy... RIP.

A Prince of a guy and a loyal son of Iona College. My heartfelt prayers go out to the entire McIvor Family (his brother, John and nieces, nephews, etc.). Remember well how nice Jim and John McIvor (and John's wife, Paula, who worked for Brother Warren, Brother Driscoll and Brother Liguori) were to me as a student at Iona. Jim and John's late wife, Paula, fought the good fight for Iona ... and will be missed. Rest in peace.

maacmaniac, not to confuse you, but it was Jim's brother John who was an Iona assistant coach. As you correctly stated Jim owned Rumm's in NYC and while a fan, he was never a coach. And he was a great guy. And it was nice to see that Frank Malone reads this board.

maacmaniac, don't I know it. Saw John at the Wake, today, and he seems to be holding up fairly well.
