Replaying the last few seconds of the Manhattan game, let's instead assume the Gaels are up two and Manhattan is in-bouding the ball at half court. The ball gets in to the shooter in the same position. We're playing aggressive defense. Is it better to foul the 3pt shooter, ensuring he doesn't get a shot off and make him make three consecutive FT's with the game on the line? Or take your chances with the shot?

I'd take my chances with the shot.

If I'm up three I'm fouling the shooter; up two I'm letting him take the shot.

I would call a time out and call the MATH Prof. from the stands. Let him figure it out after he is given all the endless equations. .......Come on.....Give me a break. Just defend as best you can without fouling and let the chips fall where they may. With the odds of making a three point shot being below 50 per cent that is the way to go. If the shot goes in so be it.
