Relax guys. Everyone gets mitch-slapped every now and then. You are still the class of the MAAC.

Relax guys. Everyone gets mitch-slapped every now and then. You are still the class of the MAAC. Class of the MAAC? What a joke. Like that's something to be proud of. When you're "this" good you are supposed to steamroll through the other teams who play in this landfill of a conference. If this were your typical Iona team in a typical year I can't see how we would have won any of the games to this point. It's scary to think what will happen when Machado and Glover graduate and when our rental MoMo skips town after this year (or did you really think he's here to stay..)

Random thoughts:
1. This team is soft as butter, no toughness. We've now seen a couple instances where with a nice lead the opponent said, "we're taking this right outta your hands", and we just let them do it. Not the stuff champions are made of.
2. Iona has immense talent and depth on the roster, but Cluess isn't taking advantage of it. Gaels should be pressing nonstop, and running fresh legs in to keep it going. Iona can't win halfcourt games because we have no true center and we don't play any defense. Press and force as many turnovers as possible, and get out in transition.
3. I'm glad I was at an alumni board meeting tonight and didn't have to watch this.
4. I'm pretty certain we'll beat Fairfield on Friday--but that's the problem. To win a championship, you need to bring it for 3 days. I can see Iona winning its quarterfinal game by 30, then being in a dogfight in the semis--and I'm not sure we can win a dogfight.
5. Agree, enough with the at-large talk and the BracketBuster concerns. We're not even in sole possession of first in our own league--and the MAAC SUCKS this year.

Agree with all the comments. Just read armand's twitter... "i hope they will miss me when I am gone"... I hope he isn't considering transferring but with the way tc uses him I wouldn't be surprised.

funny how I said alot of these things after the manhatten game and people said I was wrong. Tim doesn't have control Tim insists on not always playing our style Momo is out of control- 20 shots, 0 free throws- he was playing the point when machado sat for 10 minutes= he might be the 5th best shooter on the team all of this happened after there was a rumor that Tim has already talked to ST.Johns off the record.

If armand leaves it hurts us badly for next year. I can't elieve tc can't find him minutes. Armand is one of our most dynamic scorers, he just needs the minutes!!

What's better than winning a MAAC Championship?
Not playing in the MAAC.

ctbill, what lesson do they learn that wasn't already taught by Purdue, Hofstra, Manhattan? St Pete's last March? You play smart and intense for 40 minutes. When things are not going your way (Manhattan and Siena cutting the lead to nine), you don't leave your game plan you return to your game plan.
And, TC, where's the bench depth that I thought would be our strong suit? We wear ourselves out instead of the opponent.

I was at the game with my son, a Siena student. I told him at 20-2 that it wasn't out of reach because we haven't learned from Manhattan, Hofstra, and other games where we sat on a lead. What I saw was a series of bad shots when buckets were needed and a defense that couldn't cover 3's. Hustle was momentary. Key rebounds short in number. No spark provided when one was needed. I have been watching for over 45 years now and this one goes down as one of the worst, if not the worst. I can understand the way everyone feels. This loss should have not happened on paper. Maybe that's the problem...too much print.

Twitter is toxic. TC uses him just fine IMO, I"ve seen enough games where the guy is totally lost on the defensive end, Sean needs to learn there are two ends to the court! If the kid is in fact speaking about leaving the program, my suggestion to him would be focus your frustrations on yourself. He should be a starter on this team, but his defense compared to Smyth's leaves Cluess no choice. Can't be one dimensional on offense, play poor "D" and expect to get much playing time here at Iona or anywhere else.

Like someone else said, please no more top 40 talk or we can play with anyone. Still a good team, but like many said said, we will have to win 3 at Sprinfield. Then we get a 13 or 14 seed. Too many press clippings for players and fans!"

Agree with much that has been said, especially about game planning & lack of toughness. Incredible that this happened when refs were not in the typical home team TUC mentality and, particularly, that much happened when their double-double machine (Anosike) was on the bench with 4 fouls, including a tech. Pathetic!
