A kid we were after last year is leaving Iowa. Trey Dickerson. Any word on him?

Sounds like Dickerson will have lots of big programs recruiting him. Saw a report that St. John's was going to recruit him.
The offer to Capuano from Iona Prep is interesting, especially with only 2 scholarships remaining. Capuano was just offered by Manhattan and Siena offered him a preferred walk on spot, and guaranteeing a scholarship for his JR and SR seasons.

Heading into MAAC tourney weekend I'm thinking we can't have too much depth.

There is a Retweet by Guy that Iona has offered Iona Prep guard, Tom Capuano. I don't understand the offer, even if Tom is a pretty good PG. Is someone leaving or struggling academically? If not why another PG? Now if TC is going to spend a year in Prep School and would come in when Ibn graduates, then it makes more sense. I read something a few months back that TC was being recruited by Ivy League schools, indicating that he's a good student. Anyone know anything about this offer? He makes more sense for Manhattan as they are in need of a good PG. Capuano is a very good player who excels on both ends of the court. He is smart and has a very high hoops IQ. I do not see any of our people leaving but when we offered JUCO PG Ivan Canete back on 1/30, I thought it was strange. Maybe it is an issuance policy in the event another recruit might not qualify? I think either way, we will know shortly how things will shake out.

Seems like we have plenty of guards.
Are we seriously looking at any players 6'7"" or taller?
Need more bigs, especially with DL and Dublin graduating.
I know Bessick will be with us next season. Have yet to see him play and uncertain of his strengths/weaknesses.

java, saw Bessick play in the MTG scrimmage and he looked pretty good. But he's not DL good. Surrounded by good talent, which he will be if everyone returns and no one is injured, we should be okay. However, you always want to improve, and imo, that means adding a 'big' for depth and continued excellence down the road. Remember, the challenge will be at the end of next season when AJ, IW and KA (possibly) will have to be replaced. And that is a huge challenge. Of course ALL these concerns start with retaining our current coaching staff.

FYI--I am hearing that the report that we offered Capuano is incorrect. We must remember to take reports from recruiting sites with a grain of salt.

tiger, I've never seen Much play, but one of the coaches inferred that his game is more of a "take it to the basket-mid range", rather than a perimeter game. Also, heard that his jump shot has an unusual release. Staff seems to be high on him.

Spring Valley won the Section 1 Class A championship beating Byram Hills 75-41. Iona commits Ricky McGill had 25 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Kai Mitchell had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Both Mitchell and McGill were named to the All Tournament Team and McGill was awarded the tournament MVP.
