Too bad we do not have a tight relationship with the Westchester Community College basketball program. Keith Thomas to St. John's and Giovanni McLean to Quinnipiac, after a technical issue kept him from Oklahoma. Luis Montero- 2015 is now getting looks from major programs. Hopefully sooner rather than later these local JUCO products will give Iona a serious look rather than dismiss the program as a landing spot. Just like I hope locals from high school programs like Mount Vernon and Spring Valley view Iona as a landing spot where they can play and make the post season. We need our former players to be spokesman for the program and Coach Cluess to help with that process.

husker76, couldn't agree more.
Solid players right in Iona's backyard.
Wasn't Garee Bryant supposed to be our Westchester man?

Not sure, but I don't think that Garee is on TC's staff.

In recent years I would give the Gails a B+ rating in their ability to draw talent to a very small school which must compete against 356 other Div. 1 schools that a majority have much more to offer to basketball future minded talented recruits...It would be very hard to find another school with what Iona has to offer in size and facilities that have established such a reputation in college basketball..... I of course look forward to each report of possible recruits, but try to keep in reality that we are in competition with a rough estimate for 1,OO0 others...(356 teams times a estimated 3 recruits a team)... There is still time and recent whispers are encouraging.....

Did Iona host an elite camp today? Jared Rivers from Christ the King who is in the '16 recruiting class tweeted that he had a great experience at the Iona elite camp playing against JUCOS and post grads and received positive feedback from the staff. Any reports?

Nwanko no longer a factor. His final 6 are Minnesota, Tennessee, Seton Hall, Rice, Temple and Fordham.

Mustapha Traore - 6'7" PF from the Phelps School. Has offers from UMBC, Rider, Fairfield, Maryland Eastern Shore, Hartford, St. Peters, Cal State Bakersfield and North Texas. Gettiong looks from Quinny. Scouting report from City of Basketball Love site: "He is a very intriguing, athletic face-up ‘four’ with a lot up upside. Currently, he does a lot of things well on the basketball court. Right now, he’s most dangerous on the defensive end, using his long arms to alter a lot of shots. He’s got above-average hands, and as he continues to work on his footwork he’ll become a better rebounder as well. On offense, he gets a lot of his buckets within 10 feet, though he has shown the ability to pop out and hit a jumper from time to time. He will need to continue to work on his strength and conditioning as he gets to college. He’s getting offers in the MAAC/NEC range, and could see offers from schools in the CAA offering if he can continue to get his motor running higher at all times and get more consistency with his face-up game. –July 15, 2014" Last year he played with former and current Iona recruits Terry Larrier (VCU) and Quincy McKnight (2015). He’s cut his list down to five schools who have offered and one who’s yet to: Fairfield, Monmouth, Saint Peter’s, Wagner, Fairleigh Dickinson and Florida Gulf Coast, with FGCU the only outlier in terms of an offer. cityofbasketballlove.com/2014/08/mustapha-traore-cuts-list-down-to-final-six/
