The Iona men finished first in the Louisville Classic against 30 other teams. The pre National (The NCAA's will take place on this course in November) race was broken down into three races, with Iona running in the Gold heat/race. Arizona runners finished one, two with the winning time being 22:33. I don't know the times of the other two heats/races. Iona's runners were: Mitch Goose, #4, 23:42 Matt Bayley, #5, 23:44 Matt Gillespie, #6, 23:54 Dan Clorley, #14, 24:07 Jake Byrne, #19, 24:11
As usual, Iona continues to be an overseas team, with Goose (England), Bayley (Australia), Gillespie (Scotland), Clorley (England) and Byrne (Ireland). Gillespie, Clorley and, I believe) Byrne are new to this year's team.
Congrats, Guys!!

Ethan Heywood, the Aussie, id'd by EPatrick, won yesterday's Met XC championship in his Iona debut. Not sure where Ethan fits into the running lineup, but his race was a good start. Way to go.

Another fantastic performance by the Gaels, finishing second to Stanford at the Addidas Invitational at Wisconsin. Running in front of former coach, Mick Byrne, and against 21 of the top 30 XC teams, the Gaels did not disappoint, with only ten points separating the first two teams. Matt Gillespie finished third overall, with Mitch Goose coming in eighth. Matt Bayley, Dan Clorley and Jake Byrne rounded out the Iona scorers. A great performance by our XC team, in what I was expecting to be a down year.

What happened? Did some key runners get hurt or sick?

What happened? Did some key runners get hurt or sick? Heard something about flights delayed, but this is the nature of this sport. Sometimes just not your day. They coukd run it again in a month and they could finish 4th or something.
