Bob Ramsey is often called Billiken Bob by his colleagues at 101ESPN. Bob is a good play by play guy, but he is a homer. I have heard Bob on a broadcast yell "That is the worst call I have ever seen". OK for the fan - maybe not the broadcaster.
This is just another reason why I think is no one in college hoops better than our own Gary Stanley. Gary may question a call, but it's more for consistency than an outburst about the quality of the call. There are none better than Gary and Ed/Vin/Kevin.
They relay what they see from the prism of their knowledge and insight - not what the fan at home wants to hear.

SLG, I agree. But I also like to hear (and it's usually from Ed) when the call was a bad call.

From the St. Louis University newspaper.
"Ramsey tries to use words, phrases and tones that make the listener feel like their sitting at the game next to him. Part of that philosophy involves showing his emotion and displaying his passion for the game.
“I take some good-natured ribbing about getting excited, getting angry, but I know that if I was at the game as a ticket buyer, I’d be yelling at the ref, getting excited when the team scored, mad when they made a mistake, and all those sorts of things,” Ramsey said. “You don’t want to be insane. You have to tell the story of the game.” His enthusiasm for the game is what sets him apart from other broadcasters though and has made him almost a cult hero in the SLU community. When listening to him on the radio, fans can expect genuine emotion, likely the same emotions they would feel while watching the game. . ."
As you can surmise from the USA Today article, from time to time Bob may get a little insane - for a play by play guy, that is.
