86.....Good run down...Saves lots of time going back to review....BUT Are we really down to not speculating ''Out of respect to these kids''......If I speculate, how would I possibly be disrespectful? Am I reduced to not even guessing....... There will shortly come a day when we will surely pay for coddling sparing youths from life tribulations...Back in the early 1930's, there was little time for ''Kids'', they grew up in a hurry...Thus the ''Greatest Generation''..... Yea... I know there will be a chorus of ''There goes the Oldtimer again'', but look around you, paradoxically are we really going in the right direction... OT--usually agree with you, but... Internet, blogs, twitter, forums, etc. make public many things that were never known or hinted at previously. "Life's tribulations" are consistent--making them public to the world has become a major new dimension. One may have "discussed" a player previously; now the "discussion" occurs in a very public domain--potentially hurting the individual and the program. These "kids" are "growing up" faster than any previous generation. As a veteran of another campaign (a mere accident of my birth year) I have never really appreciated the " Greatest Generation" designation--how about our veterans today who also served their nation after a horrific invasion of our country?

Hoping for some good news soon after this weekends AAU and Juco showcases. Sounds like Micheal Nzei and Jamill Powell played really well at the events they played in this weekend. Would assume there will be a lot of offers and commits the next week after all of these showcases. lets hope we get a couple good recruits. Also still amazed with all of these AAU events I could not find one mention of Bashir Ahmed.

Has the staff told him they are holding a scholarship until he is ready to make a decision? Did they pull the offer when he didn't sign? Has he been told first to sign at guard gets the scholarship? Would be nice to know. For all we know maybe he won't be academically eligible. It's Amazing how little info leaks out of Gael land.

Super, I don't think that numbers wise there is any comparison between generations, when considering the greatest generation. I know that there are posters here who have the answer (I don't, but expect that it isn't close) to these two questions: 1. How many served in WWII vs. serving today? 2. How many made the ultimate sacrifice in WWII vs. today?
Can someone provide the answers.

Current breakdown by class if everyone stays and all the commits actually arrive on campus..... SeniorsTavon Sledge David Laury JuniorsA.J. English Isaiah Williams SophsKelvin Amayo Grant Ellis Ryden Hines Daniel Robinson Najeal Young (LOI) FreshmenSchadrac Caismir (LOI) Shackquiel Scott Bashir Ahmed (VC) This would leave only one more scholarship to fill. It seems like we have a lot of activity going on to be looking to fill only one more scholarship. I can only assume that either someone is leaving, someone is not coming or both. Until we get the news that Bashir Ahmed has signed his LOI I would assume that the staff might be feathering their nest in the event he does not sign. On possible transfers leaving Iona, lets not speculate regarding which players out of respect for the kids. Time will provide all of our answers.... no need to guess. You can take Ahmed off the list. Otherwise looks accurate.

Heard from sources outside the program there are issues with Ahmed. Academics being one of them.

I feel the staff has moved on from Bashir Ahmed and would not allow to be played. They need to be clear and sincere with recruits. Word will get around that they will not wait on recruits if they waiver.

Word will get around that they will not wait on recruits if they waiver. The funny thing is this kid has a video on Youtube every time he dunks the ball. You would think he would want people to know he is de-committed and there would be some info on him taking other visits. Not a peep anywhere. This is one of the weirdest recruitments I have ever seen.

If Ahmed is not qualified that would explain lack of info on recruitment. Hopefully he can get it together and go Juco route if true. A shame if true.

Especially since he has something like eight brothers who played college ball... they knew what is expected of him. No excuses if this is true as he had all year to get what he needed. Then again look how few kids come out of the PSAL who are actually eligible. This is why I was thrilled when he said he was leaving JFK for a prep. I thought it would help make sure he was prepared.

Approximately 12,000 US lives were lost between 2001 and 2014 in Iraq, Afghanistan and 9/11.
