Don't know if any will contribute to our X-C team this year, but Coach Ric Santos is bringing in thirteen newbies to the Track & X-C team. The article on the official Iona site lists their 'best' times, but I don't know how it translates to our X-C times. Most of the kids are from Canada and the US, with one Australian. IMO, the class represents a lot of hard work by Ric and his staff. Congrats Ric.

SID, of the new kids, are/is there any one or two that stand out above the rest?

Ric has announced that six recruits have joined the Women's team. And from the writeups it looks like a girl from Germany, Maya Rehberg, will be a vg X-C runner. However, I've been told that Kate Avery, who was already on the roster, and she's from England, might be our best ever. And we've had some great women runners. I'm not sure about the depth of the Women's team and the quality on the men's side. Should be an interesting year. If anyone has additional info, it would be great to hear from you.

Men's team won the Brother Doyle MOC on Saturday, though against a pretty week field. Freshman, Kiernan Clements was the first Iona runner (he finished second) and I think we had our top five runners in the top twelve. Not sure who didn't run. On the Women's side, we ran second to Albany, with Kate Avery and Maya Rehberg running one-two. Avery must be REALLY good as she finished nearly ONE MINUTE ahead. Again, not sure who didn't run. W/o being able to project her time, it seems that she'll(Kate Avery) be a high finisher at the Nationals.
