Just saw in the obits that long time Iona fan, Vinny Dunn has died. He was a fixture at Iona games for years, but don't remember seeing him lately. He was 79 and will be waked at Lloyd Maxey on Wednesday with the funeral mass Thursday morning at Holy Family. Vinny was a very nice guy and will be missed. May he Rest In Peace.

Vinny was a New Rochelle fixture. As owner of the Sullivan agency and President of the Chamber of Commence, he was prominent and could always be found in the business area. When he walked into my office I knew he was planning another Parade or Civic event and needed traffic or crowd control assistance...He was a loyal IONA fan who attended all games.....Vinny, a good guy is now gone, and so is another light on Main Street.....

Vinny was a great guy who always wore a broad smile. Hadn't seen him at the games in a couple of years - I imagine he may have been struggling with his health. A passionate Iona fan for many years. RIP Vinny.

I am truly saddened to hear of Vinny's passing. During my time at Iona I boarded at his house on Pershing Ave. He was a great guy who helped me alot. when I was having a hard time financially he gave me a job cleaning his office on North Ave. He didn't have to do that but its just the kind of guy he was. He treated me like family and helped make my college experience at Iona truly memorable. He was a true Gael a credit to his community and his family. He will be missed.
