A beautiful autumn day, Iona 32 Binghamton 5 Rugby. Another rugby season kicking off. This year the Iona boys will be playing home games vs Syracuse (sept 21. 1 pm), Rutgers (Oct 19..Homecoming 2:45) and Fordham ( Oct 27. 1 pm). Enjoy a great day of watching one of the best rugby squads in the north east. These home games draw a big loud Iona crowd.

Pat Fiffe, graduated Iona around 2009. As a freshman, he walked onto rugby @ 5ft 10 over 300lbs. Two years later, he was below 200lbs thru hard work and discipline. Rugby is his passion. He played up front and became the vocal leader, on & off the field. Pat started 6 a.m. work outs and strict nutrition as a daily routine. Many of the younger players followed. They became stronger and healthier. They started blowing away opponents and won a number of high profile tournaments. He took his desire to excel in rugby to the New York Athletic Club. This club has several tiers of rugby. Pat eventually became a starter on NYAC most prestigious club, traveling around the country with teammates from Ireland,Australia and other countries. When Pat walked on Iona's rugby, the total membership was approx 24 players. Today, it's numbers have doubled. The last few years Iona Rugby has actually had out of state H.S. ruggers, enroll @iona, because of the reputation of this program.
