That's not to say that I'm not extremely happy that the initial reports were false. So long as you are happy, we are happy.

Thanks I86, good to see your last post. I guess we will see in November, I believe that is when the signing period is. I am sure some schools are contacting him but hopefully he realizes the Iona style of play best suits his game

Sounds like he un-de-committed.

How big is his brother, and what is his talent level and position? At the level we're recruiting at, bigger schools like K State will try to poach our recruits.

How big is his brother, and what is his talent level and position? At the level we're recruiting at, bigger schools like K State will try to poach our recruits. Here is the review of Mohammed Ahmed's performance at the Iona Elite Camp this summer. The review is by Ray Anczelowicz from Gothem Hoops: " Mohammed Ahmed (Gillette College (WY), SO.): A Junior College prospect, Ahmed’s strength overpowered opponents on both ends of the floor throughout the Elite Camp. On offense, the rising sophomore exhibited terrific footwork in the low-post, escaping defenders with elusive ball-fakes and spin-moves. Around the rim, the 6-8 forward finished with both hands while displaying a capable mid-range jumper. On the defensive end, Ahmed’s quick feet allowed for the forward to pressure ball-handlers on the perimeter while Ahmed’s size contained opposing big men in the paint." Mohammed Ahmed is number 55, Bashir is number 21.

Interesting tweets from Greg Thompson with these quotes from Ahmed. "schools such as K-State have reached out to him, and he may decommit, but has not made up his mind yet". "decision might come in November, or maybe next week". Puts the staff in a tough position.

Robinson played Monroe yesterday and It was reported that Iona was there watching but Bashir did not play.
These kids love the attention and he might be just looking to have his ass kissed and get a few free trips to "Feel the Love" or he may really consider jumping ship. Time will tell. If I was the staff I would sit him down and explain that if he is looking at other schools that we will also be looking at other players. If he wants to risk losing his scholarship then fine.

Lost in this is that K State et al are displaying some pretty sleazy practices, recruiting a kid who has verballed.
