Sorry - I was tracking a lot of games yesterday. It was Niagara that lost to the Hall.

Marist pummeled by Elon 75-48. Rough start for the MAAC. Too many games for me to get a good look at a specific team. I think Elon plays in the same conference as Wofford.

Canisius defeated South Dakota, 71-66, with Billy Baron (27 points) leading the way. Not an impressive home win but a win nevertheless. Today, which is Marathon BB Day, has six MAAC teams in action:Quinny (ESPN2);Rider;Monmouth;Manhattan;St. Peter's, and Siena. OT at 9AM you can scout Quinny.

IC59......Quinny just grabbed a 1 point lead midway 2nd half....They have some length, are well coached and will be a team to be watched in the MAAC..........In cased you missed it Hartford and Florida G.C. had a pretty close first half but Florida G,C. pulled away in 2nd half for easy win........Manhattan looks like a good bet against Columbia...I'd give the 5 points...

Small win by LaSalle over Quinnipiac says to me 3 things:
Quinnipiac is pretty good
LaSalle is not as good as last year
Manhattan isn't as good as some think after there win over LaSalle. Especially Rothstein who has a premature lovefest with them. They are good but not sure if much better than Iona.

Watching the Monmouth-Penn game right now. The Monmouth arena is a model arena for us, perfect size, look, feel, etc. Would be great to get something that resembles their arena one day. These arenas are slowly becoming the norm in the MAAC, so we need to get used to competing against them in the recruiting wars.

Manhattan beats Columbia by 1 on a wild mix of offensive rebounds and then an and 1 for Beamon with no time left in the game. If they don't have destiny on their side this year then I don't know who does.
Penn knocks off Monmouth, Lehigh beats Rider, Hampton beats SPC on the road.
All in all a pretty brutal night for the MAAC.

MAAC looking pretty bad so far. Quinny, Manhattan and Monmouth with wins. I think that's it.
Edit: My bad, also Fairfield and Canisius.

Watching Kansas-Duke now. Boy Kansas is going to be tough. Big, fast and aggressive.

Watching Kansas-Duke now. Boy Kansas is going to be tough. Big, fast and aggressive. Wiggins & Ellis are exceptional players! All 5 players rebound and they defend every possession. Most importantly, I'm hopeful Iona can maintain poise and composure when they meet KU. Playing a difficult opponent like Kansas should benefit the Gaels as they approach the MAAC tourney later in the season.
